Is now the time to deal Quintana?
Steve Adams
3:47
The time to deal him is whenever anyone offers a package of comparable value to Sale. That hasn't happened, so in Chicago he remains.

Who has a better shot at a wildcard if the season starts today? Angels or Rockies?
Steve Adams

3:48
Who will DH for athletics?
Steve Adams
3:48
Sounds like Ryon Healy's going to get a lot of time there with Plouffe seeing quite a bit of time at 3B.

Steve who out of the 3 should I keep? Alex Reyes, Julio Urias or Jose Berrios?
Steve Adams
3:49
Urias

Who is a better fit for Texas Trumbo or Napoli
Steve Adams
3:49
All things equal, I'd say Trumbo. But he's almost certainly asking for quite a bit more than Napoli, so I'd go with the guy who has more reasonable contract demands and doesn't cost a pick.

Will the Marlins let Justin Bour play everyday? Or, still need to platoon? If so, who fills in when a lefty is on the mound against the Marlins?
Steve Adams
3:52
I think they're going to give him some more looks against lefties -- probably quite a few in Spring Training -- to see how he fares, but if the early results aren't pretty then shift back to a more traditional platoon setting. Dae-ho Lee would work nicely in Miami. Mark Reynolds is another cheap RH 1B bat they could fit onto the roster.

3:52
Greg Holland to the Reds?
Steve Adams
3:53
I kind of alluded to it before, but any pick for Holland's destination would be a complete shot in the dark at this point. 20-some teams have interest in him, I'd imagine, and he makes sense for any club in the league, as the only "risk" a team faces is bumping its seventh-best reliever out of a job. Any club can afford to make that move.

I don't think the Reds will offer the most money, especially after already signing Storen, so I'd bet against them. But there's virtually nowhere he could sign, short of going to Japan or Korea, that would necessarily shock me.

With Mallex gone, do you think Dustin Peterson has a chance to start in the ML roster or be called up soon after
Steve Adams
3:56
I don't think there's a huge correlation there. He hasn't played at AAA yet and the Braves' preference with Mallex gone is probably to find someone who can play some CF and won't cost much money. Peter Bourjos, Austin Jackson, Drew Stubbs, Michael Bourn, etc. I can't imagine they'd put Kemp or Markakis in center when Ender needs a day (or several days) off.

3:56
Who's the Red Sox best starting 3B at this point:Panda or Holt?
Steve Adams
3:57
They're going to give Panda a chance to prove himself, which makes sense to me given the contract. I don't know that he has the best chance of panning out, but I think seeing if he can rebound is in their best interest before simply cutting bait.

What is holding up the Rangers from adding a 1B/DH position. Looking for a bargain or finally going to give the prospects a chance ?
Steve Adams
3:58
I think they have a specific price point in mind in a flooded market, and they're waiting for Napoli's camp to come down to that level.
Endin
3:58
I still think the Cardinals need more bullpen depth and to move Matt Adams. Both could happen in one move. Likely before the season starts ?
Steve Adams
4:00
Yeah I can see that playing out, but they're not going to get a great relief arm -- maybe not even one that will be a lock to break camp with the team. Adams has some durability issues and huge struggles against LHP. There are lots of comparable bats on the market right now. I just don't think there's a ton of value there. Might be better off keeping him as a bench bat (or might just be forced to)

Are the Dodgers bullying the Twins?
Steve Adams
4:01
They're not bullying them. They just don't line up on the value of Dozier and De Leon. That's fine. Most trade discussions that take place don't lead to a move.

Are the Rays a contender to get Trumbo? Who's the leader in the Neftali Feliz race.
Steve Adams
4:03
I have to imagine Trumbo's asking price would need to plummet in order for TB to seriously entertain the thought. And at that point, other suitors would probably be plentiful.

The Brewers are supposedly getting close to a deal with Feliz. Medicals in that scenario are going to be key. He finished the year with a pretty vague arm injury and it's been pretty quiet on him all winter.

4:04
Hi Steve! Are the Tigers done? Any chance they can unload Sanchez?
Steve Adams
4:05
I think they'll add a cheap CF option... same type of list I rattled off before for Braves (Bourjos, Bourn, Stubbs, Jackson, etc.). I doubt there's a taker for Sanchez right now, but if he's pitching decently come summer, sure.
Daniel
4:05
Do you see Teheran as a #1 or a good #2 on a team without a real #1?
Steve Adams
4:06
Generally speaking, I think numerical classifications for starters should be used as rough guidelines and not specific means of defining a player's talent. Teheran is an above-average starter, but he's not a dominant ace type. Call him a 2/3, I guess, and I'm fine with that classification.
Chris
4:06
Have you heard anything on Perkins recovery? Do you expect him to return as the Twins closer?
Steve Adams
4:07
He was talking to the Twin Cities media pretty recently saying that things were going well, as I recall. I don't think he'll be handed the ninth, but I'd imagine he'll contend with the likes of Kintzler and whatever bargain veteran reliever(s) the Twins add before the season begins. (I do think they'll sign a reliever or two that has some closing experience.)
Dodger Blue
4:08
Now that Dozier is not happening, who do the Dodgers get? Kinsler?
Steve Adams
4:08
Seems decidedly unlikely. Dodgers are on Kinsler's no-trade list, and his agent said publicly this winter that he'd require an extension to waive that protection.

Best Jerry Dipoto trade this offseason was?
Steve Adams
4:09
I haven't been as on board with Dipoto's moves this year as I was last year, but I'm a big Drew Smyly fan and think he can have a huge season in Seattle if healthy.
Dan
4:09
Will Bautista see more time at DH or RF?
Steve Adams
4:09
More time in the field -- Kendrys Morales is going to see the bulk of the DH time, I'd imagine.
