Steve Adams

I mean, sure, for non-Braves fans haha
Braves
4:10
Good idea to move Alex Jackson back to catcher?
Steve Adams
4:11
I don't mind them trying it out, but I don't have high expectations either.
BufBison
4:11
With the additions of Smith and Rasmus, do you think the Rays will move Kevin Kiermaier? If so what do you see as destinations?
Steve Adams
4:11
Nah I think he's staying put.

4:12
david robertson for carson kelly?
Steve Adams
4:12
Too much to give up for Robertson as far as I'm concerned, but I don't think there's loads of surplus value in Robertson's contract, either.
JustAskin
4:13
Is surgery on Jake Diekman a MLB trade rumor ? Too much adoo about nothing. Just like the rest of the media.
Steve Adams
4:14
A contending team loses its top left-handed setup man for half the season and you can't see any potential trickle-down effect that would lead to roster moves from the Rangers?

Dave Cameron at FanGraphs thows out the idea of a De Leon for Baez trade, with an extra piece going to the Cubs. Thoughts?
Steve Adams
4:17
The idea makes some on-paper sense in terms of their long-term value, but the Cubs have erred toward stockpiling position player depth, and Baez helps them at as many as 5-6 positions if necessary. I'd imagine they'd prefer to hang onto Baez, though obviously the value of the "extra piece" would be significant. If it's Yadier Alvarez, let's reassess. If it's a warm body relief prospect that struggled with control in his second trip through Class-A... not so much.

Thoughts on Jorge De La Rosa? Think he could pitch a solid season outside of Coors?
Steve Adams
4:18
He pitched plenty of solid seasons AT Coors. A team could do worse than plugging him into the fifth spot of its rotation and hoping for 160 respectable innings.

Favorite Baseball site other than MLBTR and Fangraphs?
Steve Adams
4:20
Blah, lots of them. Brooks Baseball... Baseball Savant... MLBFarm.com ... Baseball America ... Roster Resource! (cheap plug)

Good content abounds online. It's a good time to be a baseball fan.

Brandon Phillips to Dodgers...thoughts
Steve Adams
4:20
Phillips has shown no willingness to waive his 10-and-5 rights, so the thought of trading him anywhere seems like a pipe dream for Reds fans at this point.

if the white sox are truly at the beginning of their rebuild, isn't their current roster make-up still too good? besides quintana dont they need to find takers for cabrera, frazier, robertson and jones? they need 1 or 2 top 3 picks
Steve Adams
4:22
There's no real rush to find a taker for guys like Quintana and Jones, who are both controlled for another 4+ years. As for Melky and Frazier, I don't think their markets are all that robust, but both could look a lot more appealing in July when there's no free-agent market to contend with.

Zach Britton for Christian Yelich?
Steve Adams
4:22
Marlins don't do it.
Jack
4:22
Hi Steve, how many times does a player go through Arbitration. Thanks
Steve Adams
4:24
Most go through arbitration three times. Super Two players -- i.e. the top 22 percent (in terms of service time) of players between two and three years of MLB service -- qualify four times.

Technically, a player can go through arbitration unlimited times, though. A guy could hit finish 2017 with three years of service, go through arb, get DFAed and outrighted after picking up 40 days of service, hit the market next year with three-plus, and continue to repeat that process ad nauseum until gets to six years of service
4:25
Obviously, that last scenario almost never plays out, but it's technically possible.

4:25
what can i realistically get for jay bruce
Steve Adams
4:25
Salary relief?
Adam
4:26
Is there any chance (I'm hoping) the Jay's fill backup catcher role inhouse? Jiminez or McGuire?
Steve Adams
4:27
Jimenez had a really poor season at Triple-A in 2016 and went unclaimed on waivers. McGuire has never played above Double-A. To each his own, but if I were a Jays fan, I wouldn't be hoping for internal options.

Do you have an opinion on the way the HOF voting is turning out this year? Seems like some deserving candidates won't make it again due to people not using the 10 votes given to them.
Steve Adams
4:30
I just talked myself out of getting too worked up over HOF voting years ago, because some voters seem to use it as a platform to generate attention for themselves rather than actually taking it seriously. (coughMurray Chasscough) I watched some Boston radio personality that on MLB Network (for some reason) explain that numbers are useless and all that matters is his gut FEEL for who is a Hall of Famer. Shockingly, his ballot was awful. But he was on national TV! So he probably got what he wanted.

The BBWAA needs to trim the number of people who have ballots. I do applaud the new transparency policy, though. Jayson Stark had a great column on that recently if you missed it.

Do u think the Cleveland Indians are contenders this year
Steve Adams
4:30
They're returning a better roster than the one they took to the World Series last year. Of course.
Ben
4:30
Jurickson Profar for Zach Britton?
Steve Adams
4:31
Doesn't make a lick of sense for the Orioles in my eyes. I just don't get the Profar love outside of "Hey three years and two shoulder surgeries ago this guy was the No. 1 prospect in baseball"
If you can get Profar on the cheap, sure, but for Britton, who might be the best reliever on the planet.
Really?
4:31
Yelich is more valuable ti MIA than Britton is to the O's? Why?
Steve Adams
4:32
Yelich is controlled for six seasons at less than $60MM.
Britton is making $11.4MM this year, will make something like $16-17MM next year, and is a free agent after that.

4:33
Should Sox trade Sandy Leon? Seemed unsustainably good.
Steve Adams
4:33
His production definitely seems unsustainable. But if you and I can see that without looking too deeply, it's not going to be lost on many other front offices.
