Did we win the Twitter fight with Smashmouth?
Steve Adams
3:52
I didn't see this. I want to see this. I must see this.

How do the Rockies pitchers overcome the obstacle that is Coors Field to be successful?
Steve Adams
3:54
If I knew that I'd be their general manager! Execs have been trying to figure that out for a couple decades now. It seems like they're closer than they've been in recent memory though, with Gray and Anderson leading the way plus a lot of intriguing arms in the form of Hoffman, Marquez... Bettis to a lesser extent I guess.

Huntington said he wants to shift focus back to ground ball pitchers. Could Jorge De La Rosa make sense for the Pirates?
Steve Adams
3:56
Sure, but the upside there is minimal given his age, and there are FA starters with higher or comparable GB%... Brett Anderson, Andrew Cashner, old friend Ed Volquez
Old friend Charlie Morton

Who do you think I could get in return for Pelfrey, Sanchez, or Lowe. I'm afraid if I don't move them I'll be in trouble with the fans.
Steve Adams
3:57
I don't think you can get anything in return for any of them except an equally bad contract. Best case scenario is eating most of the money left on those deals for a warm body/non-prospect. There's negative value in all three.

Sign Walker for first base and trade Duda to the Rockies?
Steve Adams
3:59
Duda to Rockies would make some sense. If you're looking for a new first baseman, though, Walker wouldn't be where I'd turn. Play him at second or move on.

When does free agency officially begin?
Steve Adams
3:59
Teams can negotiate with their own free agents, exclusively, for five days after the World Series ends. From there it opens up, but don't expect players to sign quickly. MLB free agency is a slow grind, and there probably won't be anyone all that notable signing until mid- or late November
Molitor
4:00
When the new management takes over will I still have a job?
Steve Adams
4:00
Yeah, Pohlad said on the day Terry Ryan was fired that Molitor would remain his manager in 2017.
Oriole Q
4:00
What do you think about the talk of moving Britton to rotation? I mean, I see a lot of reasons why not to. But maybe they sign a guy like Melancon, try Britton in rotation and if it doesn't work have two dominant relievers. Or is Joba Chamberlain syndrome too much a risk?
Steve Adams
4:01
Zach Britton is on the short list of the five best relievers in baseball. No telling how he'll do facing hitters a second and third time in the same outing, no telling how his body will respond to more than doubling his season workload or going from a reliever's workout schedule to a starter's.... he's one of the best relievers in the game and of the past 10 or so years. Keep him there.

Scooter Gennett make sense as a trade target? Affordable, controllable, some (albeit not much) upside, and should be easy to pry away from MIL without hurting my hurt farm system.
Steve Adams
4:03
Yeah when I was talking with Charlie Wilmoth about his Brewers outlook for MLBTR the match between Gennett and the Halos came up pretty quickly. He's not a great defender and definitely needs a platoon partner, but he won't cost much at all and will be a better option than Johnny Giavotella has been.

4:03
What do you think the Rays should do with their catching situation?
Steve Adams
4:04
Target catchers as part of the package when shopping Smyly/Odorizzi/Erasmo around or pursue a second-tier free agent. Jason Castro fits their "defense and pitch-framing" mold behind the dish and is a better hitter than the other framing-oriented guys they've tried recently. Problem is that even something like 2/16 is a big FA investment for Tampa Bay.

4:04
What do you think about Sonny Gray as a buy-low(ish) option for Miami?
Steve Adams
4:05
Oakland won't accept a buy-low price for him. They'll ask for a huge package and the Marlins probably don't have the pieces to make it work without dealing from their MLB roster.

Will Nathan Karns be a legit starter next year?
Steve Adams
4:06
I like him better as a starter than a reliever and think he should have a better season next year -- he misses enough bats, limits walks well enough and gets enough grounders that I don't see why he can't be successful. He's not a top-tier guy or anything, but he has everything he needs to be a mid-rotation or back-end starter -- especially pitching in a pitcher-friendly environment like Seattle.

4:07
Anyone take a shot at giving me a big-league contract this off-season?
Steve Adams
4:07
Given the paucity of SP on this year's market, yeah, someone will give you a few million if you want to keep pitching.
Innings get paid, even if they're not great innings.

Royals Opening Day starer at 2nd?
Steve Adams
4:08
Someone not that good. Whit Merrifield would be my guess.

4:08
Matt holiday to yanks as DH/1B/LF good fit?
Steve Adams
4:09
Yeah it makes enough sense on paper... think they could target someone with a bit more upside than that in that spot though. If you're going to sign an aging bat for that role, may as well just bring back Beltran.

4:09
How long have you been at mlbtr?
Steve Adams
4:09
Since 2008 part-time -- since 2013 full-time.

Any predictions for Chris Sale and Jose Quintana trades this offseason? Teams? Prospects return?
Steve Adams
4:10
I predict that they won't be traded. Sorry.
Ed
4:10
Is Bruce or Granderson on the Mets next year?
Steve Adams
4:10
Both, I'd say
Brian McCann
4:10
Stay in New York or go back home to the Braves?
Steve Adams
4:11
Don't see why it has to be one or the other. Tons of teams could use McCann. Angels, Orioles, Nationals, Astros, for instance.
