Rich Hill to the Angels for 3 yrs 40 million?
Steve Adams
4:03
Think you're about $15MM light on that offer.
Hector Rondon
4:03
Am I the Cubs closer again?
Steve Adams
4:03
They'll acquire someone better -- I think either Chapman or Jansen goes there.
AJ
4:04
Is Michael Saunders a fit for the Rays?
Steve Adams
4:04
Probably too expensive for their tastes. Poor second half or not, he's still probably going to get $10MM+ annually.

Baez, Schwarber and Soler for Quintana.. who says no?
Steve Adams
4:05
Cubs
Mike
4:05
Who is at first for Toronto this coming year?
Steve Adams
4:05
Smoak and a platoon partner, I'd imagine. Corner outfield seems like a larger priority

Steve what is the longest time you've done a chat? This is my first time participating and this is crazy. Over or under on Bautista's upcoming yearly salary when compared to QO. If i was a gm i wouldn't offer more than 17 mil per year.
Steve Adams
4:07
I dunno -- two hours maybe? I usually go an hour. I'm wrapping up shortly.

Bautista doesn't care about the AAV as much as he does the overall guarantee -- that's true in most cases for free agents. Fans seem to get hung up more on the AAV than the length for some reason... the length and total contract are really the far riskier elements of a contract.

Who is closer for astros this year?
Steve Adams
4:09
Ken Giles had a 3.31 ERA and a 60-to-14 K/BB ratio in his final 32 innings
and half of the earned runs he allowed in that stretch came in one epic six-run meltdown.
An ugly appearance, but hey, if you're a reliever that's the way to do it. Just blow one game in catastrophic fashion instead of giving up six runs over five appearances.

Thoughts on the possibility the Cardinals pull off a trade for both Todd Frazier & Adam Eaton?
Steve Adams
4:11
Eaton doesn't really make them better in center field -- he got moved to right field by the White Sox due to defensive concerns. I don't think they'd be able to pull that off without including someone like Alex Reyes, either. Eaton is wildly valuable as a corner option.
Ryan
4:12
Why not Andrew Cashner to the Mets on a one-year deal so he can reunite with Rene Rivera, his personal catcher during his run of success with the Padres?
Steve Adams
4:12
Because he probably wants somewhere with a guaranteed rotation spot -- and that's not happening in Queens.
James
4:12
Try piscotty, reyes, wacha +++ Eaton was a 6 war player on 5 yr 38m contracr
Steve Adams
4:12
I was just listing Reyes as the centerpiece.
4:13
Generally speaking, when I do these chats I'd never suggest a one-for-one swap like that because it never plays out that way. If I'm suggesting a straight-up swap, I'd probably call that out.
Michael
4:13
When will the off-season start getting more productive? It's been very quiet thus far.
Steve Adams
4:13
This is active, relative to other Novembers.
Paul
4:13
Dozier for Teheran?
Steve Adams
4:14
Braves are trying to add to their rotation -- trading their best starter for a two-year asset would be counterproductive.
Greggy
4:14
What do you think of a deal built around Steven Matz for Alex Bregman?
Steve Adams
4:14
I think you're undervaluing Alex Bregman.
Tommy Lasordid
4:15
Dozier for DeLeon and Calhoun?
Steve Adams
4:15
I do think something around Dozier/De Leon (with other parts added) has some merit to it. Dodgers fans will probably protest, but Dozier's value is pretty high.
Michael
4:15
Will the Pirates call up Meadows this year
Steve Adams
4:15
I think so yeah -- sometime midseason. Maybe sooner if the move McCutchen this winter.
Dave
4:15
Every year there's a handful of guys who overvalue themselves and are looking for jobs close to spring training start. Any guess for this year?
Steve Adams
4:16
Trumbo is the biggest one for me.
Maybe Bautista?
John
4:18
Are Alex Bregman and Nick Castellanos essentially the same player?
Steve Adams
4:18
I don't understand this comp at all. Bregman is so much better.
Jeff
4:18
What is your favorite team? Isn't Jason's the Padres?
Steve Adams
4:18
Yeah Jason's from San Diego. I'm a born and raised Twins fan, sadly. At least I'm old enough to barely remember 1991!
