If and it's probably unlikely, who can the Reds get to take innings left by Homer Bailey. I was thinking Colby Lewis...
Steve Adams
4:06
Dick Williams has already suggested they're not going to go the FA route to replace those innings. And let's be honest, no matter what they said publicly, the Reds weren't banking on 180-200 IP from Homer this season. They've added some depth (Feldman, most notably) and have a number of young arms. I think they'll stay internal, barring further rotation injuries.

The Orioles are a good fit for Angel Pagan
Steve Adams
4:07
Sure, but Pagan probably wants somewhere that can offer more playing time than the O's, who have Kim/Jones/Smith lined up as the outfielders on most days. Toronto offers more potential for regular at-bats

What happened to the peanut gallery? Did you guys not like being challenged or something?
Steve Adams
4:08
We haven't had it enabled for quite some time. I don't mind being challenged -- and honestly, I rarely looked at it, since I focus on answering as many questions as I can.

On our end, there's no real way to moderate it. So we had a lot of insults, cussing and at one point people impersonating Jason Martinez in the peanut gallery and cursing out other users.
4:09
Someone really thought it was Jason and emailed us quite angrily, ha.
So unfortunately we just decided to close it off. It's not ideal to those who enjoyed it, but this is honestly the first time I've had someone ask about it, and it's been disabled for upwards of two months, so it doesn't seem like too many are missing it to me.

Am I wrong, folks? If so please do let me know.

why do you think the jays went to arbitration with Stroman for only $300K?
Steve Adams
4:11
I always refer people back to this article I wrote after interviewing John Coppolella, Matt Klentak, Bobby Evans and a few others a couple years ago for that question:

http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/02/inside-arbitration-the-responsibility-felt-by-teams.html

It's not to consistently tout my work, ha, but it's a really good, honest take from team execs on why they feel there's no such thing as a trivial amount of money in arbitration.

Alex Reyes TJ surgery: because baseball hates us.
Steve Adams
4:12
Yeah I'm hoping that's not the case, but it seems like that might be where this is headed. Was looking forward to watching him in 2017.
Colby Lewis
4:12
Wouldn't I make a lot of sense in SD?
Steve Adams
4:13
Most remaining FA innings eaters would yes.
Bill
4:13
Who is jason martinez? Is he a baseball player?
Steve Adams
4:13
Jason runs RosterResource.com -- an MLBTR partner site -- and he also writes for us and chats on Wednesdays.

Did anyone else catch the not so subtle jab at Chris Sale in Hahn's Q&A with you guys?
Steve Adams
4:15
I didn't take it as a jab at Chris, just Hahn relaying an amusing story. The jersey-cutting thing is out there, it's not going away, and there's no sense in pretending it wasn't something he had to deal with. I laughed out loud when I read that comment -- it was told humorously, and seriously imagining Rick Hahn coaching a little league game as Sale is snapping and shredding jerseys is hysterical

Does Dilson Herrera crack the 25 man for the Reda?
Steve Adams
4:16
I see him starting in AAA to get everyday at-bats. If/when the Reds move Cozart, they can put Peraza at short and Dilson at 2B
But Bryan Price has basically already said Peraza is starting the season at second, so Herrera to AAA seems likely

Wouldn't Matt Cain have to be absolutely horrible in ST for Blach to beat him out of a rotation spot? Thanks Steve.
Steve Adams
4:17
He would, yeah. But Cain has a 5.70 ERA in 150 innings across the past two seasons. Would an awful, awful Spring Training from him really come as a huge shock?

Where is wieters going to sign
Steve Adams
4:19
At this point, I think he's going to sign somewhere that doesn't even look like a fit at present. Seems Boras is content now to wait a couple of weeks to see if a catcher goes down with an injury. If not, then maybe they just take the best one-year deal out there. (Rockies or Angels?)

4:19
More likely to shave more than 1.5 runs off his ERA this year: Miller or Greinke?
Steve Adams
4:20
I think it'll be easier for Shelby to post a 4.65 than Greinke to post a 2.87, but I still like Greinke better as a candidate to return to his ways as a well-above-average starter. Miller, to me, was never going to repeat his 3.02 ERA with the Braves from 2015.

4:21
Best player in MLB who was never a top 100 prospect?
Steve Adams
4:21
There are probably dozens of elite players that weren't, but Jonathan Lucroy came to mind right away for me.
Angel Pagan
4:22
What about a last minute return to the giants as a reserve outfielder? Nobody loves my weird salute like sf fans.
Steve Adams
4:22
If that reunion were going to happen, I think it would've taken place by now.
Bobby Evans seems pretty set on Williamson/Parker and maybe Morse kind of jockeying for that spot.

Travis wood?
Steve Adams
4:23
Agreed to terms with the Royals on a two-year deal: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/02/royals-to-sign-travis-wood.html

Sal Perez was never top prospect either
Steve Adams
4:23
Another good one, though Lucroy's the better player between the two.

4:24
What do young think the Cubs are going to do with the lack of lefties?
Steve Adams
4:26
It's not so much a lack of left-handed options as it is proven lefties. They have Montgomery, Anderson, Leathersich, Zastryzny and Duensing all on the 40-man roster, plus David Rollins, Zac Rosscup and others as non-roster guys in Spring Training. I'd imagine they'll piece it together for a few months, and if they feel it's truly an area of deficiency, they can always add a second lefty reliever on the trade market early this season.
4:27
For what it's worth, giving Brian Duensing a $2MM Major League deal is still one of the weirdest signings of the offseason to me. Given how the LHRP market panned out, I wonder if they'd like that one back.

Wieters to the Dodgers. Good or bad idea
