Vanek?
Jason Mackey
1:51
Really doubtful.

Matt Hunwick has always been terrible, I don’t understand why he was signed at that cap hit in the first place.
Sean Gentille
1:52
Hunwick was a perfectly fine bottom-pair guy with the Leafs the last couple of years.

I thought Brassard and Kessel are the new linemates now. Is it really a maintenance day for Phil in Pittsburgh? Isn't Phil in Toronto now with Derick? Anyway... who's supposed to be the 3rd on a line? Must be a two-way?.. What do you think? Thank you.
Jason Mackey
1:55
My head just spun around three times. ... I saw Phil walking around. He's fine. But banged up. Seeing Guentzel with Sid and Rust, I wouldn't be shocked if that holds for tomorrow. That leaves probably Sheary to start with Brassard and Kessel, assuming Brassard gets here.

What are the chances the pens make any moves prior to the deadline at 3?
Jason Mackey
1:55
Very good.

This team can't catch a break ggggrrrr  Murray
Jason Mackey
1:56
Yes. This is accurate.
Erik
1:56
Hi Sam from Sweden. Will it be any update on Murray today? What do you think?
Jason Mackey
1:56
Sorry, Erik. Gonna steal this one. ... No more updates today. We'll know tomorrow. All I can tell you now is he's being evaluated for a possible injury.

Do you see the Murray injury (if it is serious) changing the Pens’ plans on deadline and targeting someone like Lehner? I still can’t stop thinking that Colesy will be greatly missed come playoffs time...
Sean Gentille
1:56
Did Vanek get mentioned in a rumor or something? There are a couple questions about him. He can't skate anymore.
Jason Mackey
1:57
If he's actually hurt, and could miss an extended stretch, yes, I could see Jim wanting to do something. It would have to be reasonable, though.

Hi Sam. Any chance a team picks up Hunwick so we can look for a good top 6D?
Jason Mackey
1:57
Not likely. Sorry. Still this one, too. Trying to catch up.

i could barely focus in class while the trade was going on
Jason Mackey
1:57
I could barely focus in class because ... well, it's class.

With Brassard added, why would the Pens try to get Matt Cullen.  Connaughton or another 3rd pair D is a much better allocation of cap space.
Charlie
1:58
Can Hunwick be bought out if push comes to shove?  Or is that something they want to avoid because of cap implications?
Sean Gentille
1:58
People are mad desperate to get rid of Hunwick by any means necessary. You can't buy players out until the offseason, and it almost never happens.
Jason Mackey
1:58
First off, checked on the Connauton thing. His agent was completely unaware of any possibility there. They would be adding Cullen as a fourth-line left wing who could jump in the lineup as situations dictate.

How does Murray going down again affect what JR does?
Jason Mackey
1:59
We only know he's being evaluated. Not that actually suffered a significant injury.
Jay
1:59
Will the pens make any other moves today? What do you think is likely if yes?
Jason Mackey
1:59
I think they'll add a depth defenseman.
James
1:59
Any chance we see DeSmith recalled after Jarry's poor performance the other night?
Jason Mackey
2:00
We might see DeSmith recalled because of Murray. I think they're trying to figure that our first. But, yes, I was surprised no DeSmith after it looked like Jarry was fighting it a little bit.
Sam Werner

Also Hunwick is definitely the worst defenseman in their lineup right now, but he's perfectly capable of being a fine bottom-pairing guy, as Sean alluded to earlier. The Penguins can 100 percent win a Stanley Cup with Matt Hunwick as their sixth defenseman.
JD
2:00
Besides trying to dumb Hunwick who would be next up to try and clear space? Sheary? If they need some more room
Jason Mackey
2:00
Yes, Sheary. Neither offers a perfect scenario as far attractiveness to other teams.

Sam, yuck
Sam Werner

I know, right?
Albert

What are Brassard's biggest strengths and weaknesses?
Sean Gentille
2:02
Biggest weaknesses - sings in the shower, spends too much time volunteering. Also kind of overrated on the power play, IMO.
2:03
I've watched Brassard a lot over the years, and I think the thing about him I like the most -- he's smart, to the point of being a hockey nerd. I like him.

Any updates on maroon or the oilers?
Jason Mackey
2:04
Would be a great fit in Pittsburgh. I can't tell you what the ask is. Penguins could fit the money, though.
Jason

Is Jimmy R. The magic maker gonna pull off any more trades?
