So what're the thoughts on this game? Is Corbin pitching well or poorly?
Craig Edwards
10:15
I wouldn't say he is pitching well. He's benefited from good sequencing.
Ben Clemens
10:16
This feels roughly like an average Corbin start to me.
He's gotten there in weird ways, but some walks, some K's.
Not a lot of loud contact.

97 from Buehler feels so much harder than 99 from Kelly.
Ben Clemens
10:17
As Craig and I can attest, Joe Kelly might throw the most hittable 99 in the history of baseball.

Nats waiting for the 8th inning again
Craig Edwards
10:18
That probably won't work every time.
Ben Clemens
10:18
So you're saying there's a chance.

I also don't know how Kelly doesn't break his arms every pitch b/c that delivery just *seems* really violent
Craig Edwards
10:19
He's a really good athlete. Sometimes really good athletes have these weird deliveries that don't seem like they should hold up but they do because of general athleticism.
Ben Clemens
10:19
Joe Kelly being on the Dodgers is just so eternally weird to me. He seems like an anti-Dodger pitcher; his fastball plays down rather than up, and he's a freakish athlete whereas they have a ton of weirdos who don't look like good athletes but can deal.

SLOW CURVE ALERT
Craig Edwards
10:20
According to ZiPS, Cardinal odds of winning the series went from 45% to 65% with the win today. https://www.fangraphs.com/standings/playoff-odds/post-season-zips?seas...
Nico Robin

Kelly has been a 3-ish FIP guy since a disastrous May, even lower xFIP
Craig Edwards
10:21
He had a bad start, for sure, but he's a mostly competent reliever. Last October was very well timed for him.
Ben Clemens
10:21
Yeah he's certainly not bad. He just always seemed like he had the stuff to be absolutely unhittable.
Ever since his days in the minors with the Cardinals.

Who is the anti-dodger position player? I nominate Kevin Pillar.
Ben Clemens
10:21
Hanser Alberto.
10:22
I will take no other answer.
Nico Robin
10:22
some kind of player with raw talent but failed development
Ben Clemens
10:23
To me the Dodgers archetype is talent-agnostic; it's just big old swings and accepting whiffs.
So I suppose maybe David Fletcher is up there with Alberto too?
Dystopian Future
10:23
I'll nominate Tim Anderson and his tiny walk rate for most anti-dodger player.
Ben Clemens
10:23
That's what I was thinking with Alberto.
Go Barves!
10:23
Damnit, Craig. Quit rubbing it in!
Craig Edwards
10:24
my bad

10:25
i nominate keon broxton if we are going raw talent
Ben Clemens
10:25
Isn't Broxton kind of Joc lite, though?
Joc has made real strides in his plate discipline, but he's naturally a pretty free swinger
Craig Edwards
10:26
Up to five walks for Corbin now.

10:26
the most anti-dodger player is Tuukka Rask because boston is far away from california and also he is a hockey player.
Craig Edwards
10:27
Corbin has walked five once and walked six once this season. He went five innings both starts and gave up a combined 7 runs.
Dystopian Future
10:28
Well I guess I'll take the low-hanging fruit if nobody else will; Johnny Gomes is the most anti-Dodger player because he wins the world series.
Ben Clemens
10:28
Shots fired.
RandyMarsh
10:29
Is the o/u on Corbin's final pitchcount tonight at 110?
Ben Clemens
10:29
I'm over 110. I'm not sure I'd do that but I think the Nats will.
Dystopian Future
10:29
Oh my goodness Anthony Rendon.
