Ben Clemens
10:29
That was something else.
Pontoons
10:30
Does he get UZRs if he doesn't get the out?
Craig Edwards
10:30
There have been 20 playoff games before tonight with at least five walks and nine strikeouts from a pitcher. The last one was also against the Dodgers, back in 2017 when Jake Arrieta and the Cubs beat the Dodgers 3-2 in game 4 of the NLCS.
He just saved a double, so probably.
Ben Clemens
10:30
Without knowing the exact inner workings of UZR, it will do something like looking at the average results of balls that go there, and lots of those are probably doubles.
I'm not clear on how the binning works, though.
Craig Edwards
10:31
oh howie no.
Ben Clemens
10:32
Not that he needed it there, but Eaton's throw was beautiful.
Craig Edwards
10:32
that was a weird looking tag at home. out though.
Adam2
10:32
Kendrick showing that he is a professional hitter
Craig Edwards
10:32
he's a professional fielder too, but that wasn't a great piece of fielding.
Fangraph’s Lurker
10:32
No block the plate challenge?
Ben Clemens
10:32
Pretty sure he had the ball first.
You can block after you have the ball.
10:33
That send makes no sense to me.
Eaton isn't a guy you run on, it was shallow, and he was coming in to field it.
Muxosk
10:34
It's hard for a send with 2 outs to ever be that bad, guys just throw off line so often
Ben Clemens
10:34
Eh, that throw could have been pretty off line and still gotten him.
Paul
10:34
Some terrible third-base coaching tonight-- two runners thrown out at the plate by a country mile
Craig Edwards
10:35
The Wong was fine, particularly given the value of the leading run and the likelihood of getting it with the next batter. That last one made less sense.
RandyMarsh
10:36
Buehler probably done after this inning huh
R
10:36
Kendrick looking rough at 1B
Craig Edwards
10:36
I think so.
Ben Clemens
10:36
Age comes for us all- Kendrick used to be a pretty good defender.
Muxosk
10:37
What pitch count does 21 need to walk out of this inning with to come back for the 7th?
Craig Edwards
10:37
I don't think there is one. He's due up third.
Adam2
10:37
Didn’t Kendrick also used to play a tougher position?
Ben Clemens
10:37
Yep
R
10:38
How much different would Buehler be if he didn’t need TJ his draft year and got drafted by someone else? Say the Mets or Reds
Craig Edwards
10:40
Impossible to know. If he didn't need TJ or be suspected to need it, he gets drafted much earlier and maybe his arm blows out three years later and he's just now recovering and barely pitched in the majors if at all.
Adam2
10:41
It seems strange to use minute as the time unit in the rotation rate for pitches that take less than a second
Ben Clemens
10:41
I really get thrown by this as well. Like a 200 rpm difference is not that many rotations different.
Anonymous
10:42
why use MPH when a pitch takes less than a second
Ben Clemens
10:43
Because I understand how that works from cars. I like that they use fps for sprint speed though.
J
10:44
So the Cards are upset with Acuña pimping his HR. Can’t be too often that both teams are mad at the same player for stuff he did during the game
Ben Clemens
10:44
I didn't see this, but honestly, stop getting upset at players for being happy.
Craig Edwards
10:45
And Carlos Martinez being the one upset is like crossing the streams.
Ben Clemens
10:45
Robles has plus-plus arm waves to call other fielders off.
Mo money, Molina
10:45
Fly ball to center. Would you rather have Robles, Bader, or someone else trying to flag it down?
Craig Edwards
10:46
So Corbin at 107 pitches. Maybe gets to start the next one.
