No doubt. But many of the players speak to a good atmosphere in the clubhouse, particularly since the kids have arrived
9:07
Koda, I wouldn’t say I love Farhan. But 75-80% of the things he does I see the rationale for. I do feel he can get a bit too transactional in nature and sometimes too risk averse, but he’s made some good moves too.

All of the players in every interview I have heard speak glowingly about Zaidi, Kapler, and how the Giants handle business.

The complete non-interest in Gausman for me, is his biggest failing. That guy was worthy of the investment at 5/$110 mil. Prices went up astronomically after the new CBA, they had to know $22 mil per was a good deal
9:09
Imagine an alternate reality with Gausman but not Rodon last season and without Manaea and Stripling this season (and likely next)
Alan Caras
9:09
AMEN!
Frank Novak

Back out those three deals that’s $72 mil of a potential Gausman deal

Z isn’t perfect and no POBO or GM is, but he wins more than he loses. We are not always privy to the whole story with negotiations so it is just guesswork on what went on.

This APP's server must be hosted in the east.  Note the three time difference.  LOL
Frank Novak
9:11
I get all that, but the player wanted to stay, that part is not in doubt. Everyone makes mistakes, no argument there
Alan I believe it’s based on the person that is host
It’s 9:11 in southeast Michigan
9:12
For me, if I am Zaidi, I’m hoping that I activate Joc tomorrow and he goes on a four week hitting binge
Alan Caras
9:12
AHA  Thanks

I personally am glad we don’t have any huge long FA contracts, most end up being a burden and there are very few players worthy of them.
Frank Novak
9:13
Moving Joc could be the key to shoring up the rotation and also the roster flexibility to bring up Matos if you determine a month from now that he’s got nothing left to prove at AAA
9:14
As an aside- To me, this is where the subtlety of the philosophy change they did to the minor league schedules has hurt development
9:15
Six game series is not helpful
Alan Caras
9:15
I favor them going all in this season with the kiddie corps.
Frank Novak
9:15
Take Matos this past week. Plays six games vs Tacoma, hits about .500.
They couldn’t get him out
But that’s one club
Three and four game series are better
9:16
For one- it’s more like the MLB schedule
Alan Caras
9:16
Yeah, I do not like the new AAA schedule.
Frank Novak
9:16
And it allows you to see the player vs different opponents
Next club might know a way to approach Matos that Tacoma couldn’t
9:17
The way the schedule is built now, it takes longer for a guy to struggle and longer for them to work their way out of it

Joc will definitely be on the trading table but I think Z listens on everyone. Maybe JD or Flores or Joc plus Villar for a starting pitcher? Or just bring up Keaton Winn or Kyle Harrison when they are more ready.

I really upset a few TWG folks, some close friends , when I told a couple of insider stories about several bullpen guys and position players despising Kapler. My son is very good friends with an ex-player who was released last year, and he (the player) is the kindest, nicest guy ever…and felt very hard done. Didn’t think much of Bailey as  a P Coach and felt he just did what Kap wanted
Frank Novak
9:18
Villar and Joc I definitely see as potential chips
Alan Caras
9:19
I really have a complete negative outlook/perspective on how the 30 owners manage their monopoly.  I don't like the monopoly a lot.
Frank Novak
9:19
I immensely dislike that mlb took over the minors
Alan Caras
9:20
I agree on Villar and JOC, but I would also include Slater, YAZ, Conforto, and Haniger as potential trade chips.
Frank Novak
9:20
There have been a couple positive developments (slightly better pay and living conditions for players)
Matthew
9:20
Frank, do you think they try to move Wilmer? He seems duplicitous
Alan Caras
9:21
Kapler LOVES Wilmer.
kodachrome
9:21
Everyone is “movable” for the right return
Frank Novak
9:21
i think it’s possible they see Wilmer as a conduit to the Latin players coming up, Matos and Luciano
And if Wilmer isn’t around, Doval is really on an island. That isn’t a guy you want to screw up mentally
