Paul, that S, Ross dude has a lot to learn about the fine art of tanking, correct? A little nuance is called for in these situations.  Just goes to show that every billionaire is not exactly a genius....
Zeise
1:07
Tanking has been accepted practice in sports for at least a decade and even longer. But now we are acting shocked and want guys put in jail  because they want to tank?

Hi Paul. I know you think Capel should be back next year. I tend to agree even after last night's awful performance. But, if, they did decide to move on, what kind of coach do you bring in? I think it's a good job but it's been almost a decade since the program has been relevant. And college basketball to me is at a weird place right now with free agency basically non stop.
Zeise
1:15
The only coach who is big enough for the job is a guy like Sean Miller. This isn't a job for the mid-major flavor of the month or a first time guy, someone with experience in a Power 5 league is what would be needed

What do you think about bringing back dick lebeau for one last ride at dc?
Zeise
1:16
I think he is doing fine on the golf course, where I hear he is an extremely low handicap guy

Do the Steelers consider B Flo for the DC position if he is not hired by an NFL team as head coach? I think he would be a great fit and he can call the defensive plays without Tomlin interceding.
Zeise
1:16
If they aren't, they should. But would he do thta? Would he go from a head coach to a coordinator at a place where he doesn't even call the plays?

Hello Paul-what's the chance of the Steelers resigning Haden to a 1 or 2-year deal?  I don't think he can command what he thinks on the open market, but he is still solid and we need him.  Also, any chance the Steelers DON"T hand the starting job to Bush at inside linebacker next year?  Thoughts?
Zeise
1:17
I would say low unless he is willing to do it for extremely cheap. He can still get a decent contract on the open market, he would have to take a hometown discount and at this stage of his career I am not sure that is the best course of action

I don't understand your continued opposition to trading our first for Rodgers or Stafford. Can you explain?
Zeise
1:18
Stafford is not on the market? I don't hate the idea of trading a first for Rodgers. My opposition is to trading for guys who aren't difference makers, like Garoppolo

Am I the only fan who is truly concerned with Jarry right now. Granted, he did look good during their win streaks but over the past 2 weeks I see him reverting back to some bad habits as he has allowed a bunch of soft goals. Do we go after a vet at the trade deadline in case Jarry's wheels fall off or his confidence get shaken down the stretch?
Zeise
1:28
Nope I am concerned about him as well. I don't think he has sold me on the fact that he is THAT guy

Concerned about ILB next year. I know DL and OL should be the first 2 picks but should ILB be a possibility in those spots or in round 3?
Zeise
1:31
ILB, DL and OL as well as receivers. That is the area the Steelers need to build up the most. And I agree the inside linebackers are bad or at least not good enough

Aside from maybe the TE room, the Steelers need help at every position. How did things get this bad so fast? I know that nobody will be held accountable for allowing the cupboard to become so bare, but who should?
Zeise
1:32
I think part of it is they tried so hard to keep a team around Ben that was capable of giving him a last shot at winning a playoff game that they did a lot of patchwork and mortgaging of the future with trading picks and signing veteran guys to plug in. Eventually that catches up

Which current member of the Steelers do you believe will be with the team the longest? I ask because I'm in the market for a new jersey now that Ben has retired.
Zeise
1:33
Cam Heyward. I think he will retire a Steeler

Hi, why do you think 55 yard field goals are an afterthought now?  Special kicking balls?  Fields made out of chewed up tires?  Back in the 90s it was anything but a sure thing and it made the game more unpredictable and fun.  Do you think they need to narrow the field goal posts?  I do.  It's time
Zeise
1:34
No, it is just players are bigger and stronger and more athletic and we have far more technoligy available to help them work on their craft and perfect it.

Paul, people keep calling the upcoming draft class weak. I can remember several QB draft classes that were highly touted but were loaded with disappointments. 1999 and 2018 come immediately to mind (3 of 5 1st rounders were disappointing in both) and I’m sure there are others. What had scouts and analysts excited about those guys that this class is missing?
Zeise
1:35
I think they mean there is no Trevor Lawrence or Peyton Manning or some no-brainer first round pick available

What was Doug Fluties hand size?
Zeise
1:36
This is a great question, they got bigger after he ate his Flutie Flakes!!

Which 70s steeler team should have by rights had another super bowl: 1972 where Don Shula resorted to a fake punt to escape pittsburgh, 1976 where the third time the charm was for the raiders, 1977 where the team was distracted by lawsuits from the raiders and bowed out early to the broncos, 1982 where they blew a 28-3 lead at home to San Diego, 1980 where they barely missed the playoffs and lost two close games to those fools from Cincinnati, 1994 (no way, SF would have cremed them),
Zeise
1:37
Either the team that lost both Franco and Rocky Bleier to injury or the team that lost to the Broncos when Kordell threw bad interceptions. The team that lost to the Chargers would have lost to the 49ers anyway

Do you think Teryl Austin would really want to limit himself to be here as the so-called Defensive Coordinator knowing how the head coach is in control of that unit?  As a follow-up, like, what did (I can't think of his name) do as DC if he did not call formations on game day?  What did his duties therefore consist of?  I can't imagine
Zeise
1:41
Yes, if it was his only opportunity. My guess is he is looking into other opportunities and if he doesn't get anything else he will take the Steelers job
Rungame0

Who is the best celebrity or amatuer player to watch play golf?
Zeise

For my money - Charlie Woods!!

If top to bottom first place to last place each SEC team played a Big Ten team what do you think the record would be?  I'd say SEC would win 75% of the games
Zeise
1:43
That is a great question. I think this year the SEC would have waxed the Big Ten in that kind of head to head matchup

Rooney Rule is dumb. Pro sports are the ultimate meritocracy. If you're good enough, you'll make it to the top. And if you win enough, you'll stay there...
Zeise
1:46
It isn't dumb. It is important to make sure people get opportunities. The goal of it isn't to make teams to hire black coaches. The goal is to give black coaches a chance to be heard.

The Commanders? Sounds like a '60s junior high band.

They would have been better off calling themselves The Oneders!!!

Nobody is going to watch the USFL because nobody ever watches pro spring football. Why don't one of these leagues hook up with the NFL like happened a few years ago in Europe, play in the US and wear Steelers and Cowboys uniforms? The ratings would go through the roof.
Zeise
1:47
The NFL doesn't want competition. They don't want to pay for a minor league and why should they? They have college football serve as a minor league for free!
