I don't know yet. I have seen some signs of change for the better and some signs of it being the same old same old. I have to see more to make an evaluation

So Tuitt got his guaranteed signing bonus money without fulfilling his contract.  Can a player just sign a contract, then retire and walk away with millions?  Has a team ever gone after a player to retrieve some of their signing bonus money?  I remember there was a kerfuffle when Barry Sanders quit and Detroit was mulling over whether to make him repay some money.
Zeise
12:47
I am not sure how those things work but I don't think he gets to keep his entire signing bonus if he doesn't fulfil at least a certain amount of his contract.
Doug Froebel.

Who will get the carries that Najee doesn't get? Smell? McFarland? One of our UDFAs? And do you have confidence in any of them? Hey, Jaylen Samuels is available.
Zeise
12:47
I am assuming it will be Snell and McFarland and based on situation. Clearly they have different skill sets so they can be used differently. I still expect Najee Harris to get the bulk of the carries

I mason Rudolph looks decent in camp/preseason, does that increase his chances of staying on the roster or just increase his trade value?
Zeise
12:48
No. It would only happen if Kenny Pickett looks bad or doesn't come along fast enough. If Pickett  proves he can be a viable backup, Rudolph will be gone

Not sure how the free agency point fits with golf unless you consider LIV one team and the PGA tour another team.
Free agency doesn’t let players switch teams in mid seasons.
12:49
agree have to play all 18 holes but
agree have to play all 18 but as you know not all holes are not the same and when you play them in close round matters with nerves and maybe how you approach shots   If it’s a close match and 18 is toughest hole every player should have to finish with same difficulty to end round.
Zeise

Prior to LIV the PGA had a monopoly. If you were a golfer that wouldn't to make it at the highest level, you had one place - the PGA - to go to. Now you have two. That's called competition and is at the heart of free agency. Mickelson was right - players now have leverage. I just don't see the shotgun start as an issue - everyone has to play all 18 holes
Doug Froebel.
12:50
Do you think Bryan Reynolds will get anywhere near his 2021 numbers? If not, what do you suspect his numbers will end up being?
Zeise
12:51
So far it doesn't look like it does it? Abd if he doesn't that is bad news because his trade value goes way down

I wonder if we'll see neck injuries from those funky helmets. How much do they weigh ?
Zeise
12:51
I think they are very light and that wouldn't be an issue

I don't follow golf very closely but my wife actually went to ASU and met Phil Mickelson.  He seems like a decent guy.  Why, when US companies such as Eli Lilly, Ford, General Motors, Pfizer, Accenture etc all do sig business with the Saudis and leagues like the NBA and Pac 12 have significant ties to China is Phil the only one being called out for being greedy or taking "blood money"?
Zeise
12:54
It is the ultimate in hypocrisy. Period. People criticizing the LIV league because of the Saudi connection are hypocrites and nothing more.

Be careful Paul. My first chat back, I had to sternly lecture my groupies. They can't wait for the season to start.
Zeise
12:56
You have groupies? Really?

In your opinion, who will be the starting QB on the Cleveland Browns for the first game of the season?
Zeise
12:56
Jacoby Brissett
Big John
12:56
If The Lightning win tonight, I say they go on & win The Series. What do you think, Paul?
Zeise
12:56
I think they will win the series even if they lose tonight. Game 4 they showed us they are better
Bernard
12:57
Odds Deshaun Watson suits up this year for the Steelers second game against the Browns?  I'm going zero at this point.
Zeise
12:57
I would say closer to like 80 percent. I can't imagine he gets hit with a suspension that is longer than say 8 games. I could be wrong but he already sat out a year
Mercury
12:57
What did you make of Teryl Austin basically evading the question of who will be calling the defenses?
Zeise
12:58
He is a guy that is very media savvy and understands how to answer questions without answering them.
Bernard
12:58
I genuinely feel awful for Tuitt knowing his mother witnessed his brother's death.  I'm betting he would've sat out last season even if the Steelers hadn't paid him.  Should fan anger be directed toward the front office for simply letting this situation linger and not addressing the DL deficiencies sooner?
Zeise
12:59
There shouldn't be anger at anyone. The only thing that should be discussed is knowing this was a possibility, the Steelers didn't have a Plan B ready. That's the problem

Paul do you think the Steelers might go after Suh or Cox on a one year deal?
Zeise
1:00
I'm sure they might kick the tires to see what it might cost. But if they don't then I don't think they are doing their due diligence. Their defensive line is not good enough

Speaking of retired athletes becoming sports commentators, who do you think are the best ones of the past couple years?
Zeise
1:01
Tony Romo was really good and then got full of himself. Louis Riddick talks too much and really believes he is the smartest guy in the room. Troy Aikman is a little dull but he does an excellent job of breaking down football. I have always thought Alex Rodriguez is great on baseball as is Pedro Martinez

Do you think Mitch Keller has possibly begun to figure it out? If not, what would you need to see to think maybe he has?
Zeise
1:02
I need to see much much much more from him before I arrive at that conclusion
Bernard
1:02
It seems obvious to m the Pens need to upgrade goaltending this offseason.  Do you see them making any major changes there?
Zeise
1:03
Well they won't be retaining Casey Desmith so they need to do something. I don't know how much money they have to spend
Bernard

Most coaches has one system they know and love.  Very few coaches are able to adapt to new systems when their talent or a league's rules or style of play changes.  Can Sullivan be one of those rare coaches that adapt and change and get this team back to contending?
Zeise
1:04
No, I think he has one way he wants to play, he has proven it is successful and he is going to go down trying to play it even when he doesn't have the personnel to do it
Mark

Paul, please remind Pirate fans who get too excited about the young guys that almost everyone was a young hot prospect once, (See Tucker and Newman).
