Why not put Cole in right and play him for a month? Can’t be much worse than Polanco and he is never going to be an infielder with the Pirates since he has so many guys in front of him. If it turns out he can’t hit unload him. No reason to play Tom but not Tucker.
Zeise
12:38
Cole Tucker? What has he done that makes you want to put him in right?
Steve
12:45
Why can’t Ben and Steelers be similar to Broncos the year they won title with Peyton?
Zeise
12:45
If they have a running game and a defense like that team there is no reason they can’t
pup
12:45
which team will have to replace their coach first-- Pitt BB, Pitt FB, Steelers, Pens or Pirates?
Zeise
12:46
Wow. Pens just because the NHL is crazy like that

12:48
Which era of music is best - 70's, 80's or 90's?
Zeise
12:48
The 80s are the greatest era followed by the 70s and then 90s. Pretty much every other era sucks

Did Chuks play LT in College?
Zeise

Im not sure but he spoke to the media today so maybe he answered this question

Rod Carew or Tony Gwynn? Dame Lillard or Steph Curry?

I don’t understand the trade Frazier for prospects talk. When you have a proven player who is young, gold glove candidate and arguably a top 3 leadoff hitter in baseball. Why not secure a valuable asset for when you will contend in 2-3 years. Pay the man nutting.
Zeise
12:51
He isn’t young though, he is gonna be 30 this year. That’s not young in baseball standards

Paul, In the history of Pgh sports has a no-brainer ever gone more wrong than the decision to expose Fleury and protect Murray in the 2017 expansion draft?
Zeise
12:52
Think about that - that seemed like a move that was without risk. MUrray was gonna be the guy for ten years. Or not. What a bust that turned out to be

How is the backup OL coach from last year  going to make such a tremendous difference to the running schemes?
Zeise
12:54
The schemes will be put in by the coordinator who has made a career out of devising a run game. The schemes will be different because they will be devised differently

12:54
do you think tbe Steelers hire a little too much from within and are too insular in and of itself and with respect to the rest of the NFL
Matt from LA
12:55
Although not working with the best of talent, I am not sure that Shelton and his staff is the answer? The Craig and Hay plays make me wonder if player development and not just drafting or spending is the root of the Pirates' problems!
Zeise
12:56
I’m not sure how you can blame those two brain farts on the manager

12:56
Why was Will Craig DFA’d and what does it say that no one picked him up?  Why would they DFA him and risk losing him after three send-downs?  Their moves are hard to keep up with.
Zeise
12:57
They DFA’d him because they weren’t afraid to lose him. If someone claimed him, fine, if not, fine. He is not a part of the future it is clear

Do you think noise at football stadiums really interrupts an offense as much as it used to like at Mike High?  I don’t think so for various reasons.
Zeise

I think what we have discovered in the last year is that fans provide atmosphere and also energy to buildings. That’s clear now that we had a year without them

Paul, in exactly 5 words, describe the Steelers 21/22 season.

Many Pirate fans criticize Nutting with his refusal to spend money and rightly so when they are a contending team. When they are as bad as they are now and in a "rebuilding mode" no less, why should he waste his money?. Spending an extra 10 or 20 million is not really going to generate any more gate revenue or television money. So, just to spend money to appease fans does not make any sense. Now, if they ever become competitive again, then that is a different story.
Zeise
1:05
I agree with that. But when they start getting better they really need to start spending some money on payroll

What are some of your most memorable sports personalities that you have encountered over the years?  Anything humorous?  Ron Cook offered his experiences with Tommy Lasorda a day or two ago in his column...

Jim Boeheim and I have had some very interesting exchanges over the years.

How would pitchers get Spider Track onto a ball? If you're throwing a real spitball you can just have your glove in front of your face and spit with no one seeing. But anything else you'd have to have stashed, glove, cap bill, etc. It would be visible when the pitcher reaches for the stuff and given that most balls go out of play in maybe 5-6 pitches there's be a lot of loading. It shouldn'

If there is a way to cheat, these athletes always seem to find it. So why would you be shocked that they are doing this and finding ways to do this?

Oh that’s easy - Wanny. Could you imagine that?

Tucker is at least as good as Tom and he is a regular. Put Tucker out there for a month and then unload him if he doesn’t produce. Rather watch him than Polanco.
Zeise

I understand Tom stinks but Cole Tucker looks more and more like a bust every time I watch him try to hit
