I think we are already there

What would it take for MLB to retire 21 at this point?
Zeise
12:50
I don’t know why they need to. He was a great player. He was a great humanitarian and did wonderful things but I’m not sure that’s enough to retire a guys number

Ben plays bad, following week Ben reveals an injury that occurred during the game that would seem to justify his poor performance, Ben promises to do everything in his power to play, Steelers lose following game. The pattern is maddening. Does Tomlin have ‘what it takes’ to bench BB in his farewell season?
Zeise
12:52
Are you suggesting Ben is a bit of a drama Queen? No way! Never.

12:52
Hi Paul, would including some plays in which the pocket rolls would help the pass protection? Similarly, I don't see us pitching the ball to Najee. I would think he's fast enough to turn corners and cut back if over-pursued. Mr. Dulac accurately pointed out that we already to "pitches" and I acknowledge that we see those with wideouts etc, but I'm thinking as a standard running play.
Zeise
12:53
You can’t roll Ben Roethlisberger out because he would get hit too much outside the pocket. They just need to get better at blocking

12:53
I think you're onto something about Pitt being it's worst enemy in terms of football but can't ever figure how. Can you?
Zeise
12:54
They have had too many administrators who are too arrogant to understand what it takes to win in football but don’t know it. They make bad hires they make bad decisions on who to fire and they are way too concerned with using resources on the dumbest things

Hi Paul.  I saw some NFL talking heads say it looks like Ben has people open and he's just being greedy and not making the right throw.  What's your thought on that?
Zeise
12:55
I don’t agree - sitting in the press box I see a lot of receivers who are having a hard time getting open

Geno is out at least 2 months per Hextall today.  Will the Pens look for another center, especially since Sid will miss some time too?
Zeise
12:57
Maybe but it will likely be a bargain basement guy since they don’t have a lot of cap space
Mercury
12:57
Do you think the main reason Ben and the Steelers don’t want to run sneaks is that he would have to push off with his damaged knees?
Zeise
12:59
No they haven’t wanted to have him run sneaks for most of his career. Some coaches just don’t want to run their best player out there to get hit more than necessary

The Steelers lost by 9 points.. Oh My GOD the Sky Is Falling. A lot of first team defense went into the crapper with injuries. Problems? yes. Wrong personnel? Yes. Poor play selection? yes.  Is the season over? No. It's just starting. All the soothsayers need to take a chill pill and give me 20. Stop using your scrying devices for copy and paste info and use your common sense for once.

What fun is following a team if you don’t overreact to every game???

Mr. Zeise, Instead of having 260 pounds of #7 anchored in the shotgun, trying to get the ball out in.0003 of a second, wouldn’t it serve the offense better to have Rudolph run the entire offense?
Zeise
1:02
I think they are running the offense that Ben is most comfortable with and that makes sense on some level. But the problem is Ben’s offense is not imaginative and way too predictable

in 2008, Wannstedt and Pitt ended with 9 wins and had a loss to Bowling Green. Power 5 teams lose to  Group of 5 teams weekly.   Yes it was a bad loss considering how they lost the game (no adjustments on defense).
But it happens and  the difference between MAC schools and ACC schools is not as big as Pitt fans (and Pitt coaches and players!) seem to believe.
Lets see how Pitt responses rest of the season since they still can achieve quite a lot considering how weak the ACC coastal looks right now.
Zeise
1:05
It shouldn’t happen in year 7, especially when it happened and because the reason it happened was they couldn’t stop the other team and especially since the other team won’t be a very good MAC team

Why Paul does Narduzzi insist on trotting out 22 in the backfield so we can watch him get arm tackled time and time again?  I'm sure he's a nice kid but come on, you've recruited running backs for 2-3 years since he got here and this is the best you can do?  This offense can score but it has zero balance.  They can't possibly be happy with that.
Zeise
1:07
There are small backs all over the place that have success. LaRod Stephens-Howling wasn’t a big running back and did fine. Davis is small and also doesn’t break tackles, ever. They need to figure something else out

The Ravens had 14 players on the IR and they beat the Chiefs last week. I know the Steelers have injuries to key players and that was one of the main reasons they lost Sunday but does Bmore have more depth or do they have better coaching to get the most out of their depth compared to the Steelers?
Zeise
1:08
Nope - Baltimore has the most exciting and one of the most dynamic players in the game - Lamar Jackson. He is the ultimate weapon and gives them a chance to win every week
John
1:08
Will this be Pat Narduzzi's last year as the panthers coach
Zeise
1:09
No, I don’t think so. Again, there is no momentum to fire him in the administration

What will be the next Pittsburgh championship between the Bucs, Steelers, Pens or Pitt in football or b ball? Will it be in the next 10 years?
Zeise
1:10
I don’t think Pittsburgh will win a championship of significance any time soon that’s for sure
John
1:10
And what about Minkah Fitzpatrick will the Steelers get a long term deal with him done
Zeise
1:11
Yep next offseason. He better hope Watt plays a lot of games and has a big year so that the Steelers aren’t gun shy about giving him a big guarantee

Paul, I am tired of the Steelers not getting enough coverage locally.   Why isn't there more print and electronic media focused on them locally?
Zeise
1:11
Ha ha ha ha. Now that made me laugh
Ed Booshette

Paul, based on what Pitt is paying both Narduzzi and Capel, I don't think they can be accused of being cheap.   Of course, the return on investment is lacking, but it bodes well for potential future hires.
Zeise
1:12
They aren’t cheap, they just keep making bad decisions on who to hire and how much they support them

PZ, do you think PSU suspending 117 students for skipping COVID testing protocols, yet allowing a full stadium, packed without any protocol is a bit hypocritical don't ya think?
Zeise
1:13
It is absurd and the ultimate example of virtue signaling disguised as “science” I am over dealing with this kind of idiocy

So I am a Reagan Republican (my apologies to Rico) and I looked at your twitter page and, honestly, there is no way you're a "right winger".  In fact, I haven't a clue what your politics are based upon your comments here or on twitter and that is greatly appreciated given today's toxic partisanship.
Zeise

I believe in one principle - in a free society we must all be free to live our lives with extremely limited government intrusion. My disdain for both parties is equal because both parties don’t understand some of the most basic ideas in our constitution and it manifests itself in different ways based on the side of the aisle it comes from...... But thanks

Have you watched Ken Burns Muhammad Ali documentary on PBS?
Fascinating to watch and good history lesson on how divided country was back then and how he rose above all that by the time of his death and beyond.
