If you think Tomlin doesn’t have a large say in who is drafted I have a bridge to sell you, cheap. Tomlin and Colbert share the blame for this mess. I think Colbert may retire after this season anyway
Bill

Why are you such a Capel apologist? Let's see how things play out you claim on twitter? Give me a break pal anyone with half a brain can see the coaching has been abysmal, no recruits lined up for next season, tons of players left, the arrests, etc... What is wrong with you dude?
Zeise
12:56
Well he is a black coach and us brothers stick together…. 🤦🏾‍♂️ I’m not an apologist. I’m a realist. He took over a dumpster fire. When you rebuild a program from scratch any setback is devastating and obviously there have been some setbacks. Let me ask you this - if this team improves, if it is clear they got better from the start to the finish, if he gets all these guys to stay and at the end of the season has a couple of good recruits committed, why would you not give him one more year at least to see if he can fix it?
Bernard

Has the transfer portal and NIL made coaches more brazen in their willingness to jump teams a la Kelly and Riley?  The argument a kid can;t leave so why should a coach be allowed is gone.  FWIW, I love that ND is poised to hire Freeman and all the assistants stayed!
Zeise
12:57
It is now free agency for all. The idea of amateur college athletics is dead
Wes
12:57
So many media guys quote Chris Hoke a lot but imo his views on the coaching is biased. He played under Tomlin for 5 years so obv he's never going to blame him for anything. He also thinks Butler should stay and Canada. That's absurd to me.
Zeise
12:58
I’ve heard him criticize players and coaches and that’s why I like him. He isn’t afraid to criticize
Matt Mexico
12:58
Why has not ONE player called out Tuitt on his complete lack of dedication to his team?
Zeise
12:58
Are you gonna be that guy who “calls out” someone going through some mental health type stuff?
Arrow pointing down
12:58
ESPN had a story yesterday where they ranked each coach by their 4th down play calling.  Coach Cliche was dead last.  It got me thinking, in what coaching metric would anybody rank this guy in the top 5?
Zeise
12:58
Wins and winning seasons!
Paul
12:59
If Pickett is there when their selecting 10-15 would you draft him?
Zeise
12:59
That’s a tough one. I have to see how he does in pro days and combines and all that stuff. Again I think he will be a good quarterback but I’m just not sure if I would take him that high

Paul, it's clear the Steelers will need to replace Big Ben after the season. If you had a choice right now, would you go with Mason Rudolph, Desmond Ridder or Pickett if they were still there at #16?
Zeise
1:06
That’s simple Mason Rudolph and draft Pickett and let him come along slowly and eventually earn the job
Jimbo

Hi Paul. An NFL team without a good QB is like an NBA team without a star player (or players in today's NBA): it helps to build out the roster, but the team won't compete for a championship unless it gets that good QB or star player(s). What do you think the Steelers will do at the QB position with the Ben-era all but finished? Sign a vet in FA? Swing a trade for big name like Wilson or Rodgers? Draft a guy like Pickett? Build the rest of the roster and hope a QB falls into their lap?
Zeise
1:07
My guess - draft one, sign one and let them compete with Mason Rudolph for the starting job
Donny

If Ben seemingly has all this influence in the organization, why did the Steelers put next to nothing in their oline? Ben had to have wanted better olinemen for his final season no? I just don't understand what the point bringing him back was if the Steelers were going to do nothing to really help the oline.
Zeise
1:08
Next to nothing? Finney, Cowaard, Haeg, Moore, Greene, Turner - they brought in six new guys to try and rebuild that thing
Mercury

Do you think Tomlin may be wishing he was out recruiting for LSU by the time this season is over?
Zeise
1:11
Nope, he has no interest in coaching collwge
college football. None
CoalportKid

Will baseball 2022 start on time?
Zeise
1:12
I don’t think so. I think neither side is going to blink for quite some time
Lou
1:13
The Steelers didn't need to draft Najee they should have picked Crees Humphries. I said as much before the draft. Make the offensive line better should have been the first priority.
Zeise
1:13
Again, they added six new guys on the offensive line, the idea they didn’t address it is silly
SW Steel
1:14
What's Hines Ward up to these days?  Do you think he'd be willing to come back, and give these WR's a lesson in physicality?
Zeise
1:14
He is the receivers coach at Florida Atlantic
Steeler in Virginia
1:15
If you were GM - lock up Minkah with a big contract and have two stars (plus an aging Cam) as your defensive cornerstones to build around; or save that money to spread around to other needs?
Zeise
1:16
What have you seen from Minkah Fitzpatrick that makes you think it is a good idea to lock him up long tear
term
Matt from LA
1:17
Although most Steeler fans blame Tomlin for the demise of the team, wasn't it Colbert who put this team together or do you think that Tomlin has the final say on draft picks and free agent signings?
Zeise
1:17
Again Tomlin and Colbert work together to put this team and roster in place
Dan
1:18
Why do you keep saying Tomlin isn't going anywhere? His defense sucks, he has only won 3 playoff games in 11 years, blown out in his last 5. Why is that good to you? If we lose out shouldn't the man be on the damn hot seat?
Zeise
1:20
Do you really think the Steelers, who value stability and the fact they have only had three coaches since the Lyndon Baines Johnson administration, are suddenly going to change?
Brian
1:20
Paul if Dan Rooney was still around what would be different? I think Art doesn't know what he is doing.
Zeise
1:21
Dan was the ultimate football man. Art doesn’t have quite the same touch as Dan but I think he has done a good job. He needs to turn up the heat on the coaches and scouts and general manager
Matt from LA
1:21
Isn't it curious that none of Tomlin's coaches have ever been seriously considered for a head coaching job? To me, that says something about the quality of assistants that he hires?
Zeise
1:22
It is definitely eye opening and quite amazing though one could argue Bruce Arians had done well and he was one of Tomlin’s guys
Chuck from Michigan

Hi Paul, only at matter of time before Najee Harris gets added to the injury list/risk!  Too many run plays up the middle where Najee is getting punished or he tries to bull over tacklers.  He needs some tips from Franco Harris on how to avoid big hits. Canada needs more old school Steelers running plays that include, around the end, off tackle, two  tight end sets, and pulling guards/tackles!  Your thoughts. I enjoy your chats very much.
