What is Eric Staal's value on the trade market? Which teams would have interest?
Gavin Lee
10:21
It would be tremendous, but I'm not sure who exactly has called.
Staal has had such a renaissance in Minnesota.
I do wonder if we'll be hearing him as the top trade option next February.

Is there any possible way for Bruins to move Krejci contract?  Please say yes.   All of sudden this gives them 20mm in cap space and perfect landing for JT + another
Gavin Lee
10:22
Plenty of ways.
The Backes deal is tougher.

Does Val coming back from the KHL have a big impact on the stars? Do we need another rw?
Gavin Lee
10:22
As much as Stars fans may hope that he's a first-line player, it's not likely.
He's going to be a good, middle-six player for them. Which certainly helps.
10:23
I'm not totally sold they need much more offense, especially after you see Jim Montgomery's system in action.
They'll be able to generate chances.

What kind of chatter are you hearing about Pittsburgh , other than Johnson ?
Back to back
10:23
Who else do you see the pens bringing in besides Johnson
Gavin Lee
10:23
Very little, which is why many are preparing for a Rutherford bomb to drop. We'll have to wait and see though.

I would like Isles to bring De Haan back, but he is injured and there is little FA D depth, so he knows $$ is out there h
Gavin Lee
10:24
Yep. He's one of the best two-way options out there, even after missing almost the whole year.
Speaks to how shallow the market is.

“GM’s make their mark at the draft and lose their job on July 1st” - Quote from a famous hockey mind(Scotty Bowman, I think?)

Left without comment.

Any news on a possible Justin Faulk trade? Any chance of getting a top 6 forward in return?
Gavin Lee
10:25
Definitely a chance to get one in a return, though chatter has died down around the Hurricanes since the big draft deal.
Wouldn't be surprised to see it pop back up tomorrow.

What free agents could you see making sense for the Blackhawks? They have some cap space and could make more available if they can trade Hossa's contract, and they can also potentially trade Anisimov or Murphy to clear up even more space.
Gavin Lee
10:26
Chicago is a tough one, because of the deals they gave out to depth defensemen already.
10:27
I'd figure they would be in on players like de Haan otherwise, and second tier forwards like Maroon and Grabner.
Still not sure how things will go there though
Don't even really like the Ward signing for them.

do you think the avalanche were involved at all in talks with stastny
Gavin Lee
10:27
They were linked to him early, but things turned to the Jets recently.
Stastny apparently told Winnipeg that he was going elsewhere last night
Marc
10:28
The most likely answer on JT is he wants to stay with Isles, but
wants proof they can add a goalie and D. Otherwise he would have informed at least Isles they were out.
Gavin Lee
10:28
To be clear, we have no idea what he's informed anyone yet. Not for sure.
EJ

Any idea who Carolina could be targeting in goal? Seems like the better options have all been spoken for.
Gavin Lee
10:29
I still think they should go after Lehner, he's an excellent goalie when on his game.
Maybe they don't believe they can keep him on it though.

Landing tavaras where does toronto find the money to keep all marner matthews and nylander and how do other teams not offer sheet them.. To push toronto to the edge.
Gavin Lee
10:29
Obviously the offer sheet would be a possibility, but I've made my thoughts known on them in prior chats.
10:30
I won't believe they're a real thing again until one happens. They league is just so adamantly against them.
