RNH isn't a top center option, and I'm not convinced he's leaving Edmonton this year.
Next summer, sure..probably has to.

They have very little cap room, and still a lot of spots to fill on the NHL roster.

They can promote internally, but it looks like that would still put them over the cap, if just.
A trade of Grubauer still might happen I think.

Well, Mason got much more to go to Winnipeg so perhaps value wise yes.
But it's more underwhelming goaltending for a franchise that has had it for a long time.
If Hart or Lyon make it that might change.

To add on to the "specialist" theme, Columbus had a ton of success doing that with Sam Gagner last year before he moved up the lineup(4th line ES, top PP unit). I've long thought this would be the natural evolution from the 4th line "tough guys".

Gagner actually hit a big drought when he WASN'T used in that role, making you think maybe he'd be perfectly suited for it.
I doubt Vancouver deploys him like that.

Two years ago they were the best team in the Western Conference.

There's nothing to suggest they couldn't compete for that again, if they can get the defense in order and Bishop doesn't lay an egg.
