Does kreider make sense as a free agent target for the hawks? Strome likely hasnt earned himself a huge contract and crawfords 6 mil a year will be off the books, would it be possible for them with raises to lehner and kubalik? What more do they need to add to be a playoff squad next year?

I think you'd be pushing your chips to the middle a little early, as funny as that sounds with Toews and Kane heading out of their primes.
I think if you're Chicago you add some pieces without as much term as Kreider will command, hope you can sneak in, but don't hamstring yourself for when you can really build around the next wave of talent

You know his name has been out there a little bit, but I think at the end of it Thornton isn't going to want to leave.
The same way he flirted with Toronto as a UFA but ended up going back to San Jose.
If he does ask to be moved though, there might be 10 teams lined up to try and make it work.
Lots of people would want to add Thornton for a playoff run

That much better than Carolina? Probably not, no.
But they are a good team that can defend awfully well when they're on.
I wouldn't want to play them in the playoffs.

As a Blues fan, I'm far more scared of playing Dallas in the playoffs than Colorado based on the match-ups. Not seeing anyone in particular in the Pacific (maybe Vegas??) that strikes fear. Certainly not saying STL is cruising back to the SCF, but what are your thoughts on my read of the Western Conference?

The Blues shouldn't really have fear of anyone, but I know I wouldn't want to face Nathan MacKinnon or Connor McDavid in a playoff series either.
Those are the kind of players that can win a game by themselves, at any moment.
