This is re: Vlasic.
Yeah, no doubt there has been bad coverage by him this year.
His defense has always started with incredible gap control and stick work though.
6:51
Maybe it's just taking time to change partners/systems.

Is Detroit gonna go down as one of the worst teams ever?
Gavin Lee
6:53
As bad as it seems right now..the Avalanche posted a .293 points percentage just a few years ago.
22-56-4
Detroit is at .315

if I were a free agent I don't know if I would want to sign in Detroit and play in a place where I know I won't be competing for a championship over the life of the contract
Gavin Lee
6:54
That's probably true, but what does it matter? They don't need to go after free agents right now.

Stevie Yzerman was the player I enjoyed the most growing up. I always remember that he was criticized for not winning a cup early in his career. Then he became a cup winner and he became tab one of the greatest captains ever. Where would to place Stevie Y in the top player list since 1980?
Gavin Lee
6:55
I mean Yzerman is on most lists in or near the top-10 isn't he? Not even just post 1980.
He's one of the greatest of all-time.

How stupid do the blues look now for not bringing back pat maroon?
Gavin Lee
6:56
They didn't have the cap space, really.
6:57
I know he's cheap, but that's only because he exhausted his options.
6:58
And like, having Maroon sitting there just in case you have four other forwards suffer serious injuries?
I don't think they're really losing any sleep.

6:58
Looks like we maybe seeing the transition from Rinne to Saros. What do you think?
Gavin Lee
6:59
I think that was always the plan when Rinne signed that two-year extension.
At some point during it, the switch would be made.
Would be nice for the Predators if either was playing well though.

Any chance Kovalchuk gets traded or contracted terminated ?
Gavin Lee
7:00
Everyone rushed to report that he was being terminated when the news of his scratching first came out, and I never really understood it.
For him to be terminated, he would have to agree to give up the rest of his money. Maybe--and I mean MAYBE--after the next round of signing bonus is paid.
But I still think it's not very likely.
7:01
A trade? Yes, that's certainly possible, but I don't think it's a guarantee.

What do you Think about Sheldon Keefe? Are he ready to coach a stanley cup contender already?
Cody
7:01
Are the leafs for real now
Gavin Lee
7:02
They've looked a LOT better, but I wonder how much of that is just because they were done playing for Babcock and how much is actual systematic changes.
I think I'd like to see them back at home against a top Eastern Conference team to really gauge what they are now.
7:03
As for Keefe's readiness--he's one of the most successful coaches in AHL history and had huge success in junior and minor hockey previously.
He's also not new to the NHL, having played there before. I don't really know how much better of a resume you could have.

7:03
If you want to build a cornerstone for a franchise. What is the most important: No.1 Keeper, Stud Dman, Scoring winger or Big No.1 Center?
Gavin Lee
7:04
Personally, I think I'd go with the defenseman. But it would be so different depending on who is available.
Sox
7:04
Think the bruins would have interest in Kovalchuk? Once bonus is paid in December,  Did have interest before he went to kings .
Gavin Lee
7:05
They definitely had interest, but I'm not so sure they would want to go that direction this time.
Remember that the bonus date doesn't change his cap hit.
Still another year on that deal.
