I think the Maple Leafs would hold up Pastrnak's 34 goal season and $6.66MM cap hit as a counter to that.
I'm not sold it won't be a bridge deal on Nylander.

Why would the Sens trade Hoffman if not to retain EK65?  They have to at least get to Doughty money to keep Erik.  They can’t lose both can they?

I think when they offered him $10MM over 8, despite clear reports that he was looking for Doughty's deal, was a clear indication that they had no intention of signing him.
Anything could happen, but it looks like Karlsson won't be a Senator when the season begins.

Would it not make sense for a team near the playoffs with cap room to jump into the tbay Ottawa discussions to try and pry Johnson, killorn or Stralman for below cost? Thinking isles for both players but canes for johnson

It makes sense if they have the room for whichever, but if the Lightning can find a taker for Callahan instead--someone who wouldn't be a playoff team--it's obviously option #1
He has the biggest hit, and is giving them the lowest production.

I mean, most likely out of a huge group is a tough call, but I'll say Ryan Murray.
He didn't file for arbitration today, but there hasn't been any talks between him and Columbus as of yet.

Given the Ducks unexciting FA signings, do you think that it opens the door for Steel, Larson, Welinski, Jones, etc?  Who do you think makes the roster?  Or do the Ducks have any more signings/trades in their back pockets?  Thanks!

I don't think Steel or Jones are ready yet, and the Sustr and Schenn deals will make it tough on Welinski.

When Tommy Wingels was dealt to Boston at the deadline a lot of people said he would resign in Chicago in the offseason. Is that still a possibility or does Kunitz make that a no? Last year they brought in 2 similar players in Bouma and Wingels for the fourth line.

I'm not really sure Wingels helps that team at this point, though they probably do need another bottom-six player.
It wouldn't be out of character to bring him back, though I haven't heard anything about it recently.

I think Faulk would be heading to a team closer to the playoffs/Cup if he's moved.
He would help the Islanders for sure, but giving up assets for him at this point doesn't really move the needle.
