Who knows if he ever gets back to Vezina level, but he's not going to be a .900 save percentage goaltender going forward.

What do you think of the Sabres return on the ROR trade?
Gavin Lee
7:24
Honestly, I don't love it but I understand why they made it.
7:25
Five assets is hard to turn down, and I really like Thompson going forward.
You can really see the difference between St. Louis and Buffalo though, when Sobotka and Berglund were assets one wanted to move, and the other is happy to plug in.
7:26
Buffalo needs very badly to stop the losing, and even getting respectable NHLers into the lineup is a big part of that.
They won their lottery, now it's time to build the culture up.
Bolt for life
7:26
IMO.  Point isn’t part of any trade.  If you watch the Bolts night in and night out....he’s their best overall player.   If he’s on the table Sens should have said “yes” a week ago.
Gavin Lee
7:26
I'm not sure if I would say he's their best overall player, but I agree with this sentiment.
I would be absolutely floored if he's included in any trade.

Will Carter Hart see some time in the NHL this year, or is a year in the AHL the most likely scenario?
Gavin Lee
7:27
There's plenty of reason to believe he could get a look, but putting 20-year old goaltenders right into the fire in the NHL doesn't work all that well usually.
7:28
Personally I'd have him play the whole year in the AHL.
PATRICK MAROON
7:28
Where do I end up?
Gavin Lee
7:28
I thought St. Louis but that train seems to have passed.
I'm not sure at this point.
Winnipeg Jets
7:29
What do we do now? When we dumped Mason we were banking up room for Stastny but he is gone to Vegas. Aren't we another top 6 forward short?
Gavin Lee
7:29
I'm sure they'd like to add a second line center, but with the versatility that so many of the Jets forwards have they don't need to do it right away.
7:30
Could be another mid-season move. It's not like the Jets are going to struggle (sorry Jets fans for the jinx)
Chris
7:30
20/40 realistic for Ducliar in Columbus?
Gavin Lee
7:30
Possible, sure. Probable, I doubt it.
I don't think he gets the playing time for that.
Tim
7:30
San Jose was in on a lot of players. Kovalchuk, Tavares, Hoffman, Pacioretty. Any chance they try to pick up a big-time player and try to win before this core gets too old?
Gavin Lee
7:31
Have to think they'll be back in on Skinner if he's on the market, or anyone else that pops up.
They want to win with this group, like you say.
John Mozeliak
7:32
Even with the additions the Blues made would signing Patrick Maroon make sense?
Gavin Lee
7:32
They might not really have room any more.
I'd probably roll the dice with Fabbri instead.
Gary
7:32
Does the ROR trade help or hurt Eichel’s production? One one hand, there are more minutes up for grabs. On the other, he’ll be taking a lot for defensive zone draws.
Gavin Lee
7:33
There aren't a lot more minutes for Eichel, he was already seeing 20 a night.
That might go up a little bit, but it's not like he'll take a chunk more.
I imagine Berglund will be punished with defensive responsibilities.
Mittelstadt will be the protected center this year.
And Eichel will move into a two-way role.
7:34
(By that I mean have more responsibility, not scale back his offense)
DREAMER
7:34
If you are Pierre Dorion, and the Leafs call with 1st, Nylander and Gardiner for karlsson what say you
Gavin Lee
7:34
I'd say I can get other things I want more somewhere else.
Nylander is about to be expensive, Gardiner is about to be a UFA.
None of that is appealing to the Senators.

PLEASE tell me Gardiner is moved before the season.
