Does Rimer fill the back up roll or does Ned get his chance in Carolina?
Gavin Lee
6:49
As it looks right now Reimer would be getting that job, but I bet Nedeljkovic plays at least a handful of games
Elwood
6:49
How's the backup goalie market looking like right now? There doesn't appear to be any goalies left in your top 50 UFAs.
Gavin Lee
6:50
There's almost nothing left on the UFA market, but lots of options available through trade I would think.
(also about Carolina I forgot about Anton Forsberg entirely)
Kyle
6:50
Who has the better chance of making the NHL roster as a backup or starting goalie...Anton Forsberg or Garret Sparks?
Gavin Lee
6:51
Here are two backup options that might be available, though Carolina pumped Forsberg's tires following the trade so it actually probably is Reimer available.

How much money and years for Jordan Binnington? 4/22 ?
Pawtucket
6:52
Since there are no comparable contracts and so it’s a bit of a guess...Binningtons  next contract will be $____ x ____
Kyle
6:52
Does a 4 yr, 2.5 million per year deal get it done for Blues and Binnington? Too high? Too low? Which side says no?
Gavin Lee
6:52
This is why Binnington's contract is so interesting.
One person says 4/22, the other says 4/10
I wouldn't commit that many years at all, if it were me.
6:53
That's one that really feels like it might get to arbitration, especially because he got the earliest hearing date.
They'll exchange figures in a week, we'll get a much better idea of what it'll look like then.
Mr. Perry
6:54
Does he have any gas left in the tank or is he running on empty?
Gavin Lee
6:54
If I was to bet on one of the comeback contracts, it would be his.
I think Perry has one more year of showing people he's not completely finished.
Jonathan
6:54
Do the Rangers buy out Smith, Shattenkirk, or both (I'm not sure that's even possible)?
Gavin Lee
6:55
It's possible, sure.
The scenario I laid out previously looks like it might happen. After signing Panarin, they'll use the second buyout window granted by arbitration to get rid of one.
6:56
Of note, Buchnevich's hearing is second out of the two that filed and he goes on July 29.
The window would open after that, or whenever they resolve both.

Gavin, looking back at the draft and at the Jokiharju / Nylander swap did the hawks do the right thing by taking Dach and passing on Byram?? Thought on that trade?
Gavin Lee
6:57
We won't have any idea if it was the right thing for some time.
Shouldn't be picking for need even at the top, I don't believe.
6:58
The trade I don't hate as much as everyone else does. I think Jokiharju is going to be an excellent defenseman, but I also haven't completely given up on Nylander.
I'm not really sure why the Blackhawks felt they needed to do it, but Colliton was obviously not as much of a fan of Jokiharju as Quenneville was.

Does Nick Holden have any trade value to get rid of his $2m salary on the Knights?
Gavin Lee
6:59
Very little value.
It might go though, along with Reaves if one of the bigger contracts doesn't.
Stimpyi
6:59
Do the leafs move nylander to sign gardiner or resign Barrie/muzzin
Gavin Lee
7:00
They 100% will not trade Nylander to sign any of them, though it might be a nice bonus if they do.
They'd be trading him to get a player of equal value--and by that I mean a budding star, not whatever he was last season--back.
I shouldn't say 100% I guess, that's a stupid way to talk about hockey.
I don't believe they would.
Andrew Copp
7:00
When will chevy wake up and and sign someone
Gavin Lee
7:01
Andrew are you tired of waiting?
You're the only forward with a guaranteed deal!
Copp's arbitration hearing is the 21st. There will be a resolution on him in the next ten days.
