My mind immediately went to the Sharks too, but again not sure they'd want the expensive extension that apparently goes with it.
The Rangers are a no go for me.

Normally they'd be all over a player like him, but I think they're really trying to do this rebuild thing.
Islanders would be a good fit, they need some more scoring punch. But they aren't very appealing right now for someone who wants to win.
Not enough defense, and a bunch of weird depth moves.

Devils, now that looks like a good fit doesn't it. Bunch of cap room, accelerated contention window, would get to play behind Hall
They have the prospects to get it done too.

Don't rule out some of the usual suspects though, just because they'll probably pop up. Pittsburgh, Nashville, Chicago

They'll be involved in every deal like the one mentioned above.
Shero is very open about his willingness to use his cap space as a weapon, like he did with Johansson last summer
It's not surprising to me that they avoided most of free agency.

Other than Tavares and a handful of others, there wasn't a ton of value.
They tried on JVR, but he was priced out of their range
Tried to keep Maroon but were never going to beat a chance to see his son for the whole year

If someone like say, Detroit, needs to move a player to make room you can bet Shero will be on the phone

But there's no rush in New Jersey. It's tough to lose draft picks on guys like Grabner/Maroon..but everything after the second round is essentially a wash.
Maybe even after the first if we're being realistic

I got this one last week too. I'd be shocked if he fails completely in the first year.
I think there is real production left in him.

25 goals, 45 points seems realistic to me. Is that worth the contract? Maybe not.
But ask Maple Leafs fans if they enjoyed having Patrick Marleau as a depth scorer last season.

I think the big move will be Reinhart's extension at this point
It's been a huge summer for that team, and they should experience a real culture change next season.
By that I don't mean that the lockerroom needed work or anything.
