I absolutely believed they would bring another goaltender in
I'm not sure why they haven't yet really. As you say, even if they think Copley is ready for the backup role you need a contingency plan
6:28
Mason or Lehtonen would be fine options, and really cheap

Darling have a bounce back season in goal?
Gavin Lee
6:29
I doubt he puts up an .890 or whatever it was
But I still don't think he's a starter.

How does Minnesota take the next step from being a steady regular season team who always bow out early in the playoffs?
Gavin Lee
6:30
So, it's really hard for me to accept the idea that a team is good enough to make the playoffs and yet bad enough to never get out of the first round.
I really think it's a lot of luck with health, getting a hot goalie, or getting some early bounces
6:31
I'm not convinced Minnesota "isn't good enough" to get through the first round, and firing people because of it is crazy to me.
If you think the process of building the team is wrong, sure. But just because they've lost 4 games out of 7 a few years in a row isn't a justifiable reason.
But, getting back to the heart of the question, how do they get better.
For me, they need to just keep rolling the dice for the next few years and not blowing any futures.
6:32
Parise and Suter's contracts are too rough to really rebuild quickly.
To trade either of them would need a huge dump of assets
Trading the "core" just to shake things up isn't a good idea.
6:33
Hope that Greenway/Kunin/Eriksson Ek/Kaprizov/Lodnia/Sokolov etc etc etc all hit and they get some elite players for cheap.

Pens have nice depth at Goalie...what type of return could they get for Jarry? Buffalo seems logical as a landing spot.
Gavin Lee
6:33
Buffalo has their goaltender of the future (for now) in Ullmark.
6:34
Bringing in Hutton gives them more than enough talent in the crease, they wouldn't be giving up assets for Jarry.
I'm not sure really what his market is.
It's hard to say for goaltenders, because to really get a big package back you need a certain set of circumstances.
A team ready to turn things around, with a huge whole in net, and enough assets to be willing to trade.
6:35
The Islanders are that, but it won't be right now I don't think now that they've signed Lehner.
They'll try it with him for another year, and then make a splash next summer

May be late with this one, but was the trade of Hannifin a good move for Hamilton?
Gavin Lee
6:35
Hamilton is an excellent player. He's going to improve the Hurricanes' chances of making the playoffs.
6:36
For the Flames though, they don't really take a step backwards.
Lindholm is a really nice fit for them up front, and Hanifin still has enough potential to become...well, Hamilton.
Don't forget Adam Fox (or Micheal Ferland) who could still be a big hit for Carolina if they can get him to sign

Who’s your early Stanley cup final pick

I can't remember what I said last week now....
Winnipeg-Boston
I love Winnipeg and Nashville, and Boston and Toronto and Tampa
6:38
Lots of teams in that next tier

Speaking of goalies, does STL have an idea of what's happening next year? I think that's their only are of concern, and it's a big question right now for me. Looks like a playoff caliber lineup, but the goaltending is up in the air
Gavin Lee
6:38
They believe in Jake Allen, obviously.
I'm not so confident, but they'll try it
Remember they have Ville Husso about ready to make an impact too though.
6:39
There's a good chance he gets a run this year.
