You're welcome!

Hello Will, please what is the monthly rate (salary) for admitted CIS PhD students?
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
3:22
Hi Emily, I'm sorry, but I don't have stipend information, as that is handled by each department. I recommend contacting Britton Carnevali, the CIS PhD Program Coordinator, at brittonc@seas.upenn.edu.

Can a letter of recommendation be sent after the deadline? Given that the completed application has beeen submitted before the deadline.
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
3:26
Hi Pranav, we do require that all materials, including letters of recommendation, be submitted by the application deadline. This is clearly stated on our website, here: https://gradadm.seas.upenn.edu/how-to-apply

1)What is the acceptance rate for M:IPD.
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
3:35
Hi Abhi. The acceptance rate last year was approximately 21%

Thank you for the reply. Does international achievements pertaining to field of the program (M:IPD) add value to application and does M:IPD have a minimum GRE score
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
3:37
Yes, I believe they would add value to the application and no, we do not have a minimum required or recommend GRE score.

Another query, as of diversification how many of the accepted M:IPD students don't have work ex ( joining straight after bachelor's)
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
3:41
Abhi, I can't say as to how many do not have work experience outside of school, but I can tell you that we definitely accept applicants that do not.

Hi Will, I had a doubt in the research experience section as well as  the employment section. As part of my undergrad curriculum I had to intern at a company for which I was paid a stipend and from the company's POV I was a permanent employee at a managerial level albeit for fixed tenure and hence was given a stipend. Would this be considered an employment or should I not include it in the empoyment section.
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
3:43
Guest, did you receive academic credit for your work? Also, you say that you were a permanent employee, but it was only for a fixed period of time? If that period of time was tied to being an intern, we would normally consider that to be the length of the internship.

Thank you will for your spontaneous responses and help being provided. Really appreciate it!!

My second doubt is that I am employed in a research institute at present where my primary job is research. Does this count as research experience or will only research done as an undergrad be counted in that section?
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
3:48
Guest, if this is your job, then it would be employment, and you should list it on the employment section.
Guest
3:48
Thanks for the response Will. Yes, I did receive credit for this so I suppose I should not include it.
Yes, so I was permanent employee with a contract of 6 months but given that this was for credit it doesn't matter I guess.
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
3:49
Guest, it should not be listed in the employment section. However, you should list it on your resume/cv.

should I opt for thesis or non thesis program
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
3:52
Neha, you do not decide that until after you are enrolled in a program, here on campus. Doing a thesis is optional, not required.

Hi Will,

Hi Jing. What questions do you have?
Xiyuan
4:21
Hi Will! I am applying to the MSE program in CIS and I used Interfolio for the recommendation letters from two of my professors. However, Interfolio informed me that they could not complete the upload because the application website required supplemental information from my letter writers. I would appreciate your help!
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
4:23
Hi Xiyuan, please send an email to help@applyweb.com and ask them to assist you with this issue. In addition, please email admissions2@seas.upenn.edu and alert them to this issue. You can also have the letters sent to admissions2@seas.upenn.edu so that we can access them and upload them to your application if possible.

for GRE, will you look at the super score
4:23
i wanna submit two scores for gre, can you look at the highest one of each part?
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
4:24
Jing, we do use Super Scoring for GRE. Please submit both sets of unofficial scores on the application and then make sure you have both sets of official scores sent to Penn Engineering using code 2888.
