Thoughts on a trade for Anthony Richardson?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:31
Not a good sign when the team that drafts you in the tp five brings in competition after only two years.

Ray, thank you for the great work and chat time. Believe I'm definitely in the minority here on Justin Fields but don't see it as the big loss that a lot of the fan base seems to think it is. From what I've read and interviews I've watched, people that know football (i.e. not fans or national media) think he's a backup QB.  Never made a lot of sense to me for the Steelers to pursue him as a starter, other than they're desperate.  I think setting the limit on what they think he's worth and sticking to it was the right approach. That the Jets appear to be the only team that wanted to give him more of a guarantee seems to jive with what the football people think of him.  Am I off base here?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:33
No, you're not. The Jets is the Jets.

Are any of the players (Cam?) part of this years QB recruiting process? - ala Dangerruss
Ray Fittipaldo
12:34
I heard DeShon Elliott is in charge ha ha

I saw that you believe the Steelers offensive plan would need to become much more pass heavy if they ended up with Rodgers.  Wasn't that part of the problem in NY though?  The over-reliance on an immobile Rodgers didn't allow the Breece run game to mature. Ultimately made Rodgers a sitting duck as defenses pinned back their ears and came after him?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:35
If it's Rodgers you have to play to his strengths. Any QB wants a strong running game, but I have a hard time believing the Steelers would run the same type of offense they did with Rodgers. He remains an elite thrower of the football.

Any projection on what the contract with slay will be?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:36
I can't imagine it would be over $ 6 or 7 million for the one year.

12:37
Do you think another team will try to match Warren’s contract giving the Steelers a second round pick?  Thanks Ray.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:37
I'm not 100% certain on that, but I doubt a team would match the tender knowing how good this RB draft class is.

12:37
Do you feel like not signing Elandon Roberts says that they believe he was part of the problem of the defense not stopping the run?  Everyone always seemed to praise him on that.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:38
I just think they went younger.

12:38
It's being reported that Rogers wants 2 yrs, $90M with $45M guaranteed.  I would rather take a flyer on Jones or trade for Milton.  That's just too much for a QB his age.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:38
Was that number reported or thrown out there as a guess?
Chris Palma
12:38
Flacco is not better than Rodgers
Ray Fittipaldo
12:38
Not Rodgers. I was talking about the other QBs that questioner mentioned.

12:39
Russell Wilson played good last year IMO. end of year collapse was not on him. Why not bring him back when he has chemistry with DK Metcalf?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:39
But does he ave chemistry with Arthur Smith?
Jeff
12:40
All of these people upset about us not paying Fields just goes to show how poorly our qb play has been since ben left.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:40
Agree.

What do you think the Rodgers number could be?  2/$45-$50M
Ray Fittipaldo
12:40
That's more like it.

Hi Ray. Just getting on so I may have missed your answer. Did the Steelers reach out to Daniel Jones or are they squarely focused on Rodgers?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:41
They were focused on Darnold and Rodgers yesterday. Not sure if they inquired about Jones after Darnold signed.

Are the Steelers waiting for Kirk Cousins to be released?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:42
Another old QB who can't move anymore.

12:43
Why do you think Rogers may fit Smith's system better than Wilson? Not disagreeing, just trying to understand. Thanks
Ray Fittipaldo
12:44
Rodgers is more disciplined and says on schedule more. He's not afraid to throw the ball away if nothing is there. Wilson likes to hold the ball, run around and try to make plays. That worked really well when Wilson was young and more athletic. I don't think it was a positive for Wilson or the Steelers' offense last season.
RIP Wolf
12:44
Super sad news with Craig Wolfley passing away, put a damper on all the activity yesterday. Do you have any great Wolf stories?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:45
Wolf was tremendous. I always enjoyed seeing him at practice or in the press box before games. I'll miss him.

Do you have any insight into why Minkah didn't have his usual impact plays in 2024?  Was it scheme or is there cause for concern?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:47
Scheme definitely is part of it. A lot of NFL teams are going to the two-deep shell look to prevent big plays. But I would be lying to you if I said I wasn't concerned about the lack of production. That's why they signed him to such a big contract. They're not getting enough splash out of him for that number.

12:47
Your thoughts on Donald Parham? Big guy 6-8 looks like a good receiver. What's your opinion of him at this point?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:48
I don't have high hopes. He was on someone's practice squad last year, not even on a 53-man roster.
Lou
12:48
Ray, do you think they might go crazy, trade players, get more draft picks and try to trade up to get a QB of their draft choice?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:48
I wouldn't do that for this year's crop of QBs.

12:49
Hi Ray, Do think there is a potential for the Steelers to trade for Joe Milton if he is made available?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:50
Seeing lots of Joe Milton questions today so I figured I'd answer one. Then I looked him up on pro football reference. He's played in one NFL game! what are we doing here?
