Hi @Kieran W.  Each case is looked at independently. If you have applied to Leeds you will receive a decision to your application on the 13th of August. If your application is unsuccessful, you can still contact us on the day to provide further details of your circumstances. The admissions team would take this into consideration before making a final decision.

Kieran W.  I have recently completed an Access to HE course but have not reached my entry requirements on UCAS, however, on the University of Leeds website for International Relations BA the requirements are much lower. I have also not been aware of the Access to Leeds scheme for reduced entry as I assumed it would be done automatically like it has been for my other offers. Can I safely assume that I may still get a place? Also, I would very much prefer to speak to anyone from admissions over the phone to explain my situation with predicted grading whenever possible. Thank you.

Hi @Awaiz. If the course is asking for a specific unit (e.g. further maths) it is likely that you will need to have completed this unit to meet the entry requirements for the course. You can check this with the School of Maths to see if you would still be able to meet the requirements for the course.

The BTEC requirement for computer science is D*D*D with distinction in all mathematics units. It then says mathematics units must include further mathematics. If I don’t have this unit but achieve the grades, would there be a chance to still get on to the course if It’s available?

Hi @VickyN, yes, you can still apply for other subjects at Leeds via clearing. You can view the clearing opportunities from the 12th and contact us on 0370 126 0606 from 8am on the 13th. Hope this helps! Best wishes,

If you don't meet the entry requirements for your subject at Leeds, are you allowed to go into clearing and apply for a different subject at Leeds?
AvatarMatthew Elliott
3:35
Hi @guest. This will depend on the availability on the course. If there are additional spaces available on the course, you may find that there be lower entry requirements. You will need to check this on results day.

Will grade requirments be lowered due to circumstances surrounding exams ?
Chloe
3:35
Hi @Alisha C, yes it is a competitive course. However this does not mean it won't be available through clearing. Please check on the 12th of August at 5pm we will have a list of courses available through clearing. I would recommend you have a look and see if the course is there through clearing. Please call on 0370 126 0606 from 8am.

Is diagnostic radiography a competitive course?
Amy Warriner

Hi @Julie Anne. If you choose to retake your exams you would need to reapply through UCAS again, rather than ring the university. Best wishes, Amy.

What happens if I miss a grade, but retake the exam in 2021 and get the grades, would I have to go through the whole UCAS process or can I call the course department?
AvatarMatthew Elliott
3:32
Hi @Taief. This is the entry criteria and any other criteria set by the course (this will be stated on the entry requirements on the website). E.g. work experience, or passing an interview.
Chloe

Hi @Nina, Course availability is the courses which are available during clearing to apply for. If you do not see a course on the course availability website, it is likely that it is not available for clearing.

Hope that helps!

Best wishes

Hello, Im a bit confused as I saw on the UCAS website that there are clearing places available at Leeds for the history and Spanish course, but I just read here that I can only see which courses have vacancies on the 12th?
Amy Warriner
3:32
Hi @Vicky. It is very difficult to say as each applicant's circumstances are different and it entirely depends on the number of applications for a particular course in a given year. Unfortunately the only way to find our whether you have been accepted onto your course is through UCAS Track next Thursday morning. Best wishes, Amy.

Hi @Kieran W i can see you have asked a follow up question at 3:25pm with more details. I will answer this now.

Hello, I am currently in a difficult situation. I have not met my entry requirements due to a bizarre situation with predicted grades. I am also disappointed that the Access to Leeds scheme is closed for applications. It has been difficult as I would prefer to speak to someone over the phone to more easily explain my situation. As I am not familiar with the university process could you please explain what my options are? Many thanks.
Taief R

What do you mean by 'meeting the criteria' for cource availablity, thanks.

Hi @guest. Course availability is the courses which are available during clearing to apply for. If you do not see a course on the course availability website, it is likely that it is not available for clearing.

So course availability is not the same as the clearing courses you have available?
Amy Warriner
3:29
Hi @guest. You would need to repeat the UCAS application and reapply for 2021 entry, rather than contact the university due to the high volume of applicants likely to be following this route. Best wishes, Amy.

If I miss the required grades for my course, but I do the retake and get the required grades, would I need to repeat the whole UCAS application or can I call and let the uni know about it?
AvatarMatthew Elliott

Hi @yehia. All applications will be reviewed individually. I would recommend informing the course about any contextual circumstances.
Yehia S

Would contextual circumstances be considered in the case of a missed offer?

Hi @Taief - yes, once the webchat closes all the questions and responses will be available online for 24 hours before it is archived (via the same link you used to join the chat today).

Hi @Awaiz. You will be able to find out on Wednesday 12th regarding course availability, and ring on the 13th to check whether you meet the criteria.

Is it possible to ring and see if there are places available on a course before declining a firm choice for another uni?

Hi @Rebecca, thank you for your message. You would find out on the 13th of August if you have a place. This will be available via UCAS track.

Hello - I’m taking International A Levels and my results will be released slightly earlier (11th) than the rest of the UK - will the university let me know if I have a place on the 11th or will I need to wait until the 13th to find out? Thanks.
