Is RFE put us on access to Leeds or does it depends?
AvatarMeghan Clamp

As you are an RfE student you are automatically eligible to transfer onto A2L :)

Hi, I would like to do medicine but I'm not sure what to pick as my 5th choice?
AvatarMolly
4:47
I would think about which aspects of Medicine really interest you and where else you might be able to get similar fulfilment. There are lots of different courses to apply to, I'd narrow it down by looking at course content and potential career progression for each one and see what you think works for you

What would u put in a personal statement for medicine or dentistry?
AvatarMolly

There are lots of resources out there for this, and the Medicine and Health team have offered application sessions already on RfE this year. There will be more to come, and there are webinars you can attend at Leeds too that are Medicine-specific :)

I'm sorry but what is A2L?
AvatarMeghan Clamp

The Access to Leeds scheme works alongside your standard UCAS application, and you will receive special consideration from admissions tutors. This means that admissions tutors are able to take into consideration the context of your academic achievements.
If you were to receive a course offer, you would usually receive the standard offer and the Access to Leeds offer, this can be up to two grades or 16 UCAS points below the standard offer as published on the university course pages. The Access to Leeds offer is conditional upon a pass in all elements of the Access to Leeds module and making the University of Leeds your firm choice when replying to UCAS.

What can we put on our personal statement to make it more successful?
AvatarMeghan Clamp
4:49
Our Get Set For Uni Part 2 resources are on the student portal for you to have a look at, and they focus on personal statements for a good portion of time. We also have personal statement appointments and resources that we offer in September of Y13 so you'll be able to access those too!

Do we have to do an evaluation for this event?
AvatarMolly
4:49
No not for this one :)
Morgan

Even though Leeds does not require the LNAT can this still go towards your application? Or would it be invalid?
AvatarMolly
4:50
As far as I'm aware we wouldn't look at this, but there are other universities that require it

How should we begin drafting our personal statement?
AvatarMeghan Clamp
4:52
We've already talked a lot about personal statements if you read further up the chat this may answer your question :) but I would advise for all having a paragraph on each area in your personal statement: interest in the course, extra-curricular activities you've done outside of college that  demonstrates your interest, work experience, skills required for your career and any other hobbies that are relevant to course or uni as a whole

Thank you so much!

Say if you are predicted AAA but need A* AA is there anything that can be done to improve your application
AvatarMolly
4:52
Totally depends on the course, and whether or not you are part of an access programme like A2L! Very competitive courses are much stricter on entry requirements

Is there any information more information about modules for university of Leeds courses or other unis other than the topic of the module itself?
AvatarMeghan Clamp
4:53
A full list of modules for every course will be listed on each University's course page. For any additional, more in depth queries to do with module I would always advise emailing the admissions teams :)

Hi, how do you know which degree is the best for you if you are stuck between a few, similar options?
AvatarMolly
4:55
It's a tricky choice, but the only way to decide is to do more research and find out as much as you can. Think about course content, teaching style, module choices, and possible career paths. Come to a variety of RfE events if you can, and do some wider reading in each area to see which subject most interests you - it's all about the research!

Is it best to do a non-Law degree if you want to become a solicitor rather than a law degree? I’ve heard many people say that solicitors prefer non-Law graduates.
AvatarMeghan Clamp
4:54
Hi Olivia, hot off the press we are running an industry insider trip to a law firm in our Spring Bank events (1st and 2nd June), I would strongly advise coming along to this as all of these sorts of questions will be answered by the experts!

If my course requires AAA does my predicted grades have to be AAA or can they be any lower, for my application to be considered?
AvatarMolly
4:55
Again, entirely dependent on the course I'm afraid

4:55
for law  if you are slightly underpredicted do you suggest an EPQ or work experience to help applications or perhaps choosing another degree ?
AvatarMeghan Clamp
4:56
Hi, we would always encourage taking up work experience where possible and the EPQ. See my response from Olivia ^^, I'd encourage you come along too :)
Morgan
4:56
You do not need a law degree to be a solicitor anymore
AvatarMolly
4:56
Very true! There are lots of pathways into the profession :)

any advice on studying out A-levels currently such as techniques or things that helped you get through your subjects?
AvatarMolly
4:58
Being realistic is my biggest tip - doing little and often to refresh your knowledge will be much more effective than scheduling in an 8 hour revision sesh the Saturday before an exam! Mindfulness techniques can also really help to train your focus and keep you calm
Olivia
4:57
Thank you, I’ll definitely sign up to that event! :)

AvatarMeghan Clamp
4:59
Hi Iman, is this query specifically for Leeds University of University entry requirements in general?
Morgan
4:58
However, if you want to be a barrister you do you need a law degree
