Your personal statement is really important to give the person reading your application more of an insight into what your interests are and your experience. Your personal statement is there to show your strengths. If you and other students had the exact same grades, it will be your personal statement which will help the person reading your application decide who will receive an offer.

how much do personal statements count towards getting an offer? If my personal statement is bad but my grades are good can I still get in?

The University of Leeds has over 300 clubs and societies – you can find out more about them here https://www.luu.org.uk/ You can join as many as you’d like but do consider how much time you want to commit to societies, alongside socialising and studying.

How many societies do people normally join?

It entirely depends on your choice and comfort level whether you would want to be living in Leeds even when the lectures are delivered online, however, in the circumstances of online delivery of the lectures students might not be able to visit the university on regular basis thus doesn’t require living resident in Leeds but again would be a personal choice!

Would you still advise living resident in Leeds if lectures are online?

The Geography BSc at the University of Leeds comes with an optional study abroad year – some modules might include educational trips and visits and you can find out more about these on the following link https://courses.leeds.ac.uk/0330/geography-ba

A degree in human geography provides the knowledge and skills to understand our rapidly changing world, including international development, population growth, urban transformation, sustainability, global geopolitics, human rights, globalisation, and patterns of inequality (ethnicity, class and gender). Our BSc Environmental Science course offers a thorough understanding of fundamental physics, chemistry and biology of the Earth’s environmental systems across a range of scales and will equip you with the knowledge and tools required to identify and solve the key environmental issues facing mankind.

What are the differences between the Geography BSc and Environmental Science courses?

Students might be moving back into their student accommodations once the University re-opens and if the delivery of face to face lectures resume. However, moving back into accommodation again depends on the delivery of your specific course requirements.

Will we still be moving into accommodation when the university opens?

We understand that getting to know the University, meeting new people and moving into halls are all really important to help students settle in. Welcome and arrival preparations for September are already underway to give students the best experience possible under the circumstances. We’re busy working with our students’ union, Leeds University Union, to develop a series of activities and events, both on campus and online. Further details will be announced on our FAQ pages as soon as possible.   https://www.leeds.ac.uk/info/123000/international_students/802/coronav...

Thank you for your patience.

You should try and demonstrate your insight and motivation to study Medicine/ Nursing,  instead of your work experience. You can do this through future learn courses, online workshops and summer schools, further reading and research, volunteering in the community / helping a family member etc.

How can I make myself stand out if I'm applying for Gateway to Medicine/ Nursing?

Pathways to Law typically lowers your grade offer by one grade and Access to Leeds drops it by two grades so it is up to you which you want to apply for. Pathways to Law has other benefits like having a mentor throughout your studies.

Hi, Sorry about your wait. We are currently finding this information out for you and then will get back to you as soon as possible.

My question is, as pathways to law students will we be accepted with 2 grades lower entry requirements or should we take part in the access to Leeds programme?

Hi Raza, thank you for your patience with my reply. I have just pinned a link to a webpage that may answer some of your queries. Course delivery will be a mix of on-line digital learning and face to face but we are yet to determine exactly how it would look for those students studying Dentistry.

Hi, firstly thank you for setting this up. I had a question. Will the University be doing online teaching in September, Will students still get to go to accommodation? What will this be like in a course like Dentistry?
Ailsa Mackenzie

In first year, you are allocated your accommodation and you will be randomly allocated flatmates. You can give a preference when you apply for how many people you want to live with and if you wanted to be with same sex or mixed.

Are you put with random people in your first year accommodation
Ben

Hello, Tahnk you for your patience.

Yes, student accommodation is typically for first year students. In the second year, most students then rent private housing with their friends in the areas surrounding e university.

However, it is not just for Freshers and you can still stay at University owned student accommodation in your second and third year but you are not guaranteed a place. Please see here: https://accommodation.leeds.ac.uk/info/9/current_residents/48/returnin...

Leeds main pro and con is that it is a very big city. It’s great for shopping, food, clubs, pubs, museums, art, music; there is something for everyone to do here, but this can also be quite overwhelming if you are from a small city, town or village. Leeds has a huge train station and is really well connected to the rest of the UK (for travelling home or visiting other places), there’s also a lot of beautiful countryside around Leeds which is easily accessible via bus and train.

All new students will take part in programme of induction and orientation activities to help you familiarise yourself and settle into Leeds as quickly as possible. We're busy working with the teams in Leeds University Union to develop a series of activities and events, both on campus and online, so you can be sure of a warm and friendly welcome when you arrive. You will receive more details by email as they are confirmed. Please see the link regarding the Univesity of Leeds FAQ’s https://www.leeds.ac.uk/info/123000/international_students/802/coronav...

With regards to studying facilities, it entirely depends on the students whether they would feel comfortable studying at the library or any other environment such as clusters or comfort of your room. However, cafeterias are available within the library to make it more comfortable for students. Other facilities such as specific study areas are available as well along with quite studying area, personal study rooms or group study rooms (which requires pre-booking) is available in most of the libraries.
