Eovaldi, I can see a chance yes.
Lean against -- maybe doing two years with Boston
Tim Dierkes
10:04
There's some chance Rizzo accepts, though probably not.
Steve Adams
10:04
Oh yeah, Rizz too
I actually like Rizzo to accept more than Tim and Anthony do.
Tim Dierkes
10:05
If I had to pick a "super long shot, but not completely insane if he surveys the offers in these ten days and they're weirdly terrible" guy to accept, it'd be Contreras
Steve Adams
10:05
Ew. No.
Go get paid, Willy
Anthony Franco
10:05
Yeah I disagree there
Tim Dierkes
10:05
Even with that caveat??
Steve Adams
10:06
Chicago bias
Tim Dierkes
10:06
Not at all, I love Willson.  His rep is weirdly bad though
Steve Adams
10:06
CHICAGO. BIAS.
Haha -- nah, do I think there's like a 5% chance? Sure.
Maybe not 5%. I'll say 2.5%
Tim Dierkes
10:07
Yeah, my percentage is around there.  I guess, never having been an agent, I can't really speak to how well they can determine if the market sucks within a ten-day period.  On a smaller scale, the agent for Gausman and Stroman made that determination.
Anthony Franco
10:07
Believe it's five days now actually
Tim Dierkes
10:07
If all offers are three years for Willson in these ten days, certainly doesn't mean someone won't go four.
Oh.  So yeah, not a lot of time to survey
Steve Adams
10:07
Like "case ace on the river" chance, but sure I'll allow it.
Tim Dierkes
10:08
Alright, I gotta run.  Thanks for chatting!
Steve Adams
10:08
I'll keep this running for a bit.
Anthony you sticking around or bolting?
Rangers Fan
10:08
Rangers will resign perez.
Anthony Franco
10:08
I have to run as well, but I'm doing another chat for Front Office subscribers this afternoon
Steve Adams
10:08
We all predicted that!
Anthony Franco
10:08
So I'll talk to some of you then, have a good one!
Steve Adams
10:09
Perez re-signing. Not Anthony running. But good shout on the subscriber chat. Tune in for that, folks.
You're all stuck with me for a bit now. Sorry for the downgrade in quality.

I know the Pirates never do anything exciting in free agencies but is there a chance they sign a starter like Manaea or Wacha to adeal more than one year?
Steve Adams
10:10
Hey I picked them to sign Benintendi, which by their standards would be gigantic!

I don't think they'll sign Manaea -- not at the rate we picked or anywhere close. Wacha for two years, sure ... though I would not be excited about Wacha. We all agree he'll probably get two years but is basically a free-agent landmine.

How optimistic are you guys that the Twins actually make some of these projected FA moves? They usually seem to go dumpster diving in free agency (Homer Bailey, Bundy, and Archer are a few examples) and usually acquire better players through trades (Maeda, Gray, etc.)
Steve Adams
10:11
I guess it's fair to say they've typically been scrap-heap shoppers for pitching, but the Twins have signed Carlos Correa, Josh Donaldson and Nelson Cruz in free agency over the past several years.
10:12
I'm not convinced they'll sign a big-name SP -- they certainly have the funds to -- but I think they'll sign one of the shortstops or, if not, multiple other bats of note. I opted for the latter scenario in my predictions, putting them on Contreras and Abreu (plus Bassitt, which I didn't love, but oh well!)

seeing that the site is mlbtraderumors instead of mlbfreeagentrumors, do yinz have any plans to do a top 50 hypothetical trades of the 2022/2023 offseason ? would be interesting to see your creativity
Steve Adams
10:14
Hey at this point "MLBTradeRumors" is a brand we can't change. We cover free agency extensively and obviously have plenty of posts on the site that aren't hot-stove related at all. The site has evolved from where it started 17 years ago!

That said, Anthony and I have talked about putting together a Top X Offseason Trade Candidates list as well, yeah. I doubt we'll go 50 deep on it, but I think we'll try to find some time to put together something along those lines in the near future.

why is Robert Suarez and Edwin Diaz the only contract signings so far that isn’t an option of some sort
Chris Young
10:14
Could we realistically sign Perez, DeGrom or Rodon, and Joc Pederson? If so what does each player warrant?
Steve Adams
10:14
Oops, published two at once.
10:15
Mark: Because MLB free agency is an absolute slog. Also, the first five days of free agency is an exclusive negotiation window between teams and their own free agents.
