To be honest, I couldn't find a good fit for Porcello.  I think the Tigers will add a low-level SP.  I have no idea which one.
Joc
2:23
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t remember a time that Mozeliak signed somebody multiple years as a platoon bat. (Mid season trades are another thing) I know that the fit is reasonable but I can’t see the cards spending that kind of money for a platoon bat with similar strikeout issues as the rest of the cardinal outfield.
Tim Dierkes
2:23
I feel like they're big on adding power...he mashes righties, most pitchers are righties.
Emerson
2:23
5 years and 125$ million for Realmuto? At his age?
Tim Dierkes
2:23
We were actually at 6/144 for a while.  He is the best catcher in baseball after all.
Mike Rizzo
2:24
Instead of making a splash on a guy like Springer or Ozuna, could you see the Nats signing Justin Turner and Michael Brantley?
Tim Dierkes
2:24
Yes, that does seem like a reasonable alternative.  Hard to say whether Turner will end up exploring the market.
Braves
2:24
Charlie Morton to the Braves... Its on the East Coast..Realstic
Tim Dierkes
2:24
Agreed.  And he came up in that org.

seems to low for bauer i think ethier a high one year contract like 40ish or a contract like Strasburg
Tim Dierkes
2:25
I don't believe Bauer wants a seven-year commitment.  But, he was stuck on the one-year thing for his entire career until the eve of free agency, so who's to say what happens when the offers actually get made.  It's probably not the winter for seven-year offers though.
Mr T

Kim to the Tigers as their SS on a 5 year deal?
Tim Dierkes
2:26
I like the fit there.  Kim is said to be the equivalent of a top 100 prospect, yet MLB ready.  He'd go really well on most teams.
Ben

Farhan Zaidi said after they season that the Giants would be shopping for a left-handed infielder who could complement righties Longoria/Solano/Flores at second and third. With that in mind, doesn't an infielder like Tommy La Stella make sense? The Giants weren't listed as possible fits for any infielders despite the declaration by Zaidi.
Tim Dierkes
2:27
Yes...I read that the other day but I guess failed to get it into the list.  I do think TLS is a great fit for the Giants.  I had Joc there for a while but it seemed a tough fit with Dickerson.

Are we feeling the projected deals might be a little aggressive? Nobody paid Brad Hand 10 mil? That seems like a big time miss for 2021 WS contenders aka the Dodgers
Tim Dierkes
2:28
The amount of variance on trying to predict this offseason has to be the highest I've ever seen.  If you told me Springer got $75MM, I wouldn't be shocked.  Nor would I be shocked at $150MM.
Kike Hernandez
2:28
So if I am below honorable mention, where will I sign and for how much?
Tim Dierkes
2:28
As something less than a regular, it's hard to say where he winds up.  Maybe like $3MM?
Pedro4eva
2:29
I honestly don't understand why anybody would give Trevor Bauer more than $20 million a year. And even that is pushing it. He's had one and a quarter great seasons and five and three quarters pretty bad seasons. Why is he worth so much? Especially seeing as how he's a clubhouse cancer also
Tim Dierkes
2:30
He's the closest thing to an ace this market has, and is about to win the Cy Young award.  He's good at baseball.  Clubhouse cancer is not a substantiated claim...he may have a few beefs.
Scuffy Mcgee
2:30
Profar to the Tigers? I'm failing to see the fit
Tim Dierkes
2:30
The idea was kind of Cron/Schoop-like...one-year guy for a team with little going on at 2B or LF.
Why Hand to Astros?
2:31
Does he have elite spin rate?
For the Astros... Pitchers have to spin it to be in it!
Tim Dierkes
2:31
His fastball does.  But that match was just about putting a quality late inning arm there with them mostly lacking in that.
Cars

Prior to Brad Hand, Chicago writers thought Craig Kimbrel was a great trade piece. If team's were not interested Hands $$ no one will trade for Kimbrel.
Tim Dierkes
2:31
No argument here, Kimbrel has negative trade value.
Brandon
2:32
Of the current crop of 2021 free agent shortstops which do you think is most likely to sign an extension before hitting the market?
Tim Dierkes
2:32
I'd probably go with Baez.
Jared Angels
2:32
Very intrigued by your Trevor Bauer prediction, for me I just don’t see him going to a team that just won the World Series, it would be a very Kevin Durant type move and I feel that would hurt him and his image that he’s trying to paint. Him going to the team down south like the Angels and bringing them to the postseason will speak volumes of the importance of a player like him is.
Tim Dierkes
2:33
Could be, but that's not what he's said.  He talked about wanting to play for a team that wins every year, not about ending a six-year playoff drought.
Bob
2:33
In your opinion, will the cards pursue Lemahieu if they lose out on Joc? And do you think they have a shot at bringing in Nelson Cruz if both of those options don't work out?
Tim Dierkes
2:34
We had the Cardinals as our initial pick for LeMahieu.  He'd make sense there if they had the money.  Cruz would become more plausible if the NL DH was agreed upon for 2021.
Dylan

DJ is signing for more than 68 million isn't he? Really my only disagreement with the list.
Tim Dierkes
2:35
You know, I knocked that down late from 84 to 68.  If I could go back, I'd probably reset it closer to 80.  But after all the second-guessing I just had to publish the thing.

Any thoughts on the Blue Jays pursuing Francisco Lindor and move Bitchette to 2B and Biggio to 3B?
Tim Dierkes
2:36
Yes...I'd be surprised if they don't look into that option.
Connie Bailey
2:36
If the Yankees non-tender Sanchez, who catches for them?  Do they perhaps bring back Romine?
Tim Dierkes
2:37
They could go for Realmuto, McCann, or Yadi, or perhaps just go for one of those defense-only guys like Romine.
