I think Oakland would say no pretty easily. Langeliers is killing it in the minors and has a great defensive rep already. Peraza is a plus defender himself but the bat lags behind, and he hasn't exactly hit in Triple-A this year.
12:32
Oakland would move Murphy first anyway, I'm sure.

Andujar is already 1 for 2 in the afternoon game at SWB (BA up to .328). I know they like Gallo and game up a lot to get him, but at what point does the balance shift away from Gallo to Andujar (the negative fWAR for Gallo suggests it would already make sense).
Derek
12:33
I still don't think Andujar gets everyday ML reps unless someone gets hurt. He feels more like trade bait to me.
12:34
I've got an empty question queue. Please send in more, still have a good chunk of availability left.
Steve
12:37
Any early thoughts on OF that may be available?
Derek
12:38
Someone mentioned Benintendi in last week's chat, and I like that idea.
Steve
12:39
How do you see the Judge arb hearing playing our? Settle?
Derek
12:40
Settling on a long-term extension would be nice! Probably a hearing, though.
They were what, $4M apart? 21M vs. 17M?
Deadline Dude
12:40
We're sitting here on May 11 so far in first place with nothing to do except plot deadline additions - could be worse!  Am I crazy for thinking that Correa could make sense at the deadline or has that ship sailed, sunk, and is pushing up coral?
Derek
12:40
Not happening, Minnesota is doing well.
Hal's Piggy Bank
12:41
Sorry if I missed it, but do you have a take on first round byes in a sport where players are used to playing every day?  The last thing I want is to be swept in the Division Series by a hot WC team.
Derek
12:42
I'm not too worried about it. If you're the better team, you should win whether or not there's a bye. You can set up your rotation, get home field advantage, etc.
JJ
12:43
How many innings does Cortes need to pitch before John Sterling stops calling him Nelson? (he did it at least three times in that last start).
Derek
12:44
Is that true? I haven't listened to a game on the radio yet this year. Newborn has me home basically all the time. In a somewhat related note, I was floored by how unexcited Sterling seemed with Judge's walk-off last night after hearing his call after the game. I'm kinda worried about him, he's getting up there.
Patrick
12:45
Do you think there is a chance they upgrade at SS at the deadline?
Derek
12:46
There's always a chance, but I'd say it's pretty slim. I think they'll ride it out with IKF and focus elsewhere.
Troy Soren
12:46
What would be an ops worthy of Lindor's contract this year and in future ones?
Derek
12:47
Not really following this question. Can you clarify?
Stephen
12:47
What do you think Brett Gardner is doing right now?
Derek
12:48
I'm sure he's doing his best to stay ready at home. His agent made it pretty clear he still wants to play. It just seems like the Yankees are ready to move on, but maybe Gardy isn't too keen on a minor league deal elsewhere.
Troy Soren
12:48
How well does Lindor have to play to justify his contract?
Derek
12:50
I think you need at least 2-3 more seasons similar to his 2017-2019 run, and maybe a title to go with it. He's been better this year than last, but it seems like he's been underwhelming so far. All that said, it's a good thing Steve Cohen doesn't seem to care about $.
Simon
12:51
Whose decision would it be to replace Sterling if it there was a consensus that he's not up to the task of calling games anymore?
Derek
12:51
I really think it's up to him to walk away.
12:52
Don't think he'll get pushed out.
Victor
12:52
If an IFA draft was implemented, couldn't prospects choose not to sign with the team that selected them?  There's probably a 2024 player who has a handshake agreement with the Yankees, but might get taken by another team.
Derek
12:53
I mean I guess they could choose not to, but that wouldn't mean the handshake agreement could still be honored
Troy Soren
12:54
Think Ricardo is a possible Sterling replacement?
Derek
12:54
Sure, I think so.
12:55
Not a bad outcome for Taillon in that first, all things considered.

12:55
Luis Rojas doing a great job as 3rd base coach? I can't think of any bad reads he's made so far
Derek
12:56
If you're a 3B coach and you're not getting talked about much, it's a good thing.

Gleyber posting the highest EV & Barrel% of his career, feel a breakout (as much as the 2022 ball allows) coming soon?
Derek
1:02
I'm a little encouraged, but I also would like to know if there's a related swing or approach change.
1:03
There may be a point where he takes time away from Donaldson, with DJLM playing third.
Rick

Do you see the mound being lowered in the near future to balance things out a bit?  Seems like pitchers have the edge all things considered.
Derek
1:03
I think so. I don't want to see anything that would drastically change the way the game looks (like moving the mound back). I don't think we'd be able to actually "see" a lower mound.
