@Jo thanks again

If I’m doing an extra year at college can I apply next year instead and still be classed as an RfE student when applying?
AvatarPaula
4:24
@Bamlak, you don't need to copy or write the same as your personal statement, as admissions staff will have access to this already. It is a chance to say something specifically about the course at Leeds, or the University of Leeds that has interested you, rather than the subject more generally, as on your personal statement
Maariya
4:24
Hi, is there a word count on the statement part
AvatarShauni
4:24
@Maariya no! But no need to go beyond the box provided :)

When is the latest the universities get back to us?
AvatarJo
4:25
HI @Alex, yes absolutely, you will still be eligible for Access to Leeds if you do an extra year at college.

Do people still apply to A2L if they are wanting to do the gateway to medicne course?
HCL
4:25
What if I get a conditional offer form the university and just miss out on the offer by a grade for example, but have done the RFE scheme plus A2L
AvatarShauni
4:26
@HCL if you meet your A2L offer at Leeds you will get a place, if you don't meet this it will depend from uni to uni and course to course

4:26
Hi does Access to Leeds help your application if you have low to average GCSEs
AvatarJo
4:26
Hi @Papay, no, the Access to Leeds application is incompatible with the Gateway to Medicine programme so the only application for this programme should be via UCAS.
Alex
4:26
Thanks @Jo

Thanks @Shauni!!

@Paula understood, Thanks again
Alex
4:27
Okay @Jo, thanks!
AvatarShauni
4:27
@Alex yes absolutely, the team would be happy to support you if you apply next year. You'll just need to email the RfE inbox in the September when you're writing your application to make sure you have the write A2L form for your year!
AvatarPaula
4:27
Hi@R offer decisions can be made right up until the end of March into April. It will depend on the course - some people are already receiving offers as they have submitted their UCAS applications early. If you have to attend an interview, you wouldn't get a decision until January normally.

Do I have to explain why I am eligible for access to Leeds or can I just list the factors that make me eligible?
Adam
4:27
Hi what type of things do you guys want us to write about in our A2L statements.
Sara
4:27
What are some examples of undersubscribed courses at Leeds?
AvatarShauni
4:28
@Sara, it changes from year to year! What courses are you interested in?

Hi@Adam The A2L statement is a chance to say something specifically about the course at Leeds, or the University of Leeds that has interested you, rather than the subject more generally, as you did on your personal statement.

Once you’ve been accepted on A2L once can you use it again the next year
AvatarMatthew
4:29
Hi @Mur. There are certain eligibility criteria around your GCSE grades (please check these on the website), so you may not be eligible for A2L depending on your grades. The scheme is more beneficial to gain a reduced offer at A-level if your predicted grades are lower than the entry requirement at Leeds.
Hello
4:29
If I am putting Leeds as insurance, will I still need to do the application?
AvatarJo
4:29
Hi @Jennifer, either of these is absolutely fine, you can put as little or as much information as you are comfortable with - as long as it's clear which criteria you are applying under we can process easily.
Mur
4:29
Are students from RfE prioritised when applying for competitive subjects like medicine?
AvatarShauni
4:29
@Mur yes you can if you need to - you'll just have to let the Access to Leeds team know :)
M
4:29
Does what we write about heavily affect if we get onto the A2L scheme?
Iqibali
4:30
Are there any circumstances where you're able to get onto a course if you don't meet conditional offers. Like having a really good interview but just not making all the requirments
AvatarPaula
4:30
Hi@Hello if you put Leeds as your insurance choice, you would not be eligible for Access to Leeds. Therefore if you have definitely decided already, you don't need to apply
Adam
4:30
Also how do you submit the form for RFE students? I don't understand how to do it.
AvatarShauni
4:31
@Iqibali - Access to Leeds is there to help you get the two grades lower entry offer, but if you don't meet that you would usually be rejected on predicted grades. Courses are often very competitive so grades have to be taken into account!
