Does anyone know if physical or human geography is the better degree?
AvatarJames
4:31
@Musaddiq - Yes
Musaddiq Qasim
4:31
@James what about EPQ and by how much?
AvatarShauni
4:32
@Guest it really depends what you want to do and are most interested in! Physical Geog is a BSc and Human is usually a BA, so different qualifications. Look up the course content of both at universities you are interested in!

@Shauni thank you

@James thankyou

Also, with degrees like healthcare science - is it a recognised profession world-wide?
AvatarMolly
4:33
@Guest if you mean finding out how many events you've attended then you'll need to email the inbox. If you mean how to register yourself as attending this webchat then there are some instructions a few lines after your question.
AvatarJames

@Musaddiq it would be 2 grades below the standard offer so AAA becomes ABB - is the EPQ a condition of the offer for the course your looking at?

How do You sign in for the webchats to confirm your attendance?

Hi @Anonymous If you are set on doing a degree on interior design, then I advise that you look at the universities that offer it as a course by looking on the UCAS website. It's really important that you pick a degree that you really want to study and that may mean that you have to go elsewhere. It's worth checking other local universities in Leeds and Yorkshire to see if they offer the course. At the University of Leeds, we have the School of Design which offers other creative subjects. We also have various degrees in the School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies. I suggest you look at the School websites and also check on Coursefinder to find out if there are other creative courses that appeal to you here at Leeds: https://courses.leeds.ac.uk/

@Guest01a degree qualification will be recognised around the world, but you can go into lots of different careers with healthcare science. If you were to study a course with a specific career outcome - like nursing for example - that would be recognised in different countries, but you would have to check if there are any other requirements to practice abroad

What kind of fifth option choices are there for somebody who wants to study dentistry?
Guest01
4:34
@Shauni thanks, is it compulsory to attend yellow events to be eligible for access to leeds?
AvatarJames
4:34
@Musaddiq - it would be a pass in the EPQ if it is a requirement - it wouldn't get lowered as such

I want to teach GCSE maths but don’t want to do a Mathematics degree, what would be the best degree to choose instead?

@molly thank you so much for all of your help, it’s so tough when it comes to plan bs as I’m a total perfectionist and always think really hard about my plan As to make them work!! (Not to mention I am always pretty passionate about them as well) I am also not stupid though and know that not everything goes to plan so I’ll have a little think and definitely speak to the student hosts of RfE events to see what they did when it came to their 5th choice - hopefully it will never come to it! Thanks so much molly for your advice

For a student who wants to apply to dentistry, what kind of 5th option choices are there?
AvatarShauni
4:36
@Anonymous, if you don't want to do Maths as a degree but want to teach Maths, then you need to do a degree with high mathematical content. Physics or Engineering would be good optionsd
AvatarMolly

@Dee similiar to Medicine - anything that's related to the course! Have a look at some of the courses on the Faculty of Medicine and Health website here for a better idea:   https://medicinehealth.leeds.ac.uk/

Hi, I’m thinking of taking history but Im also considering doing history and politics as joint honours. I don’t know if it’s a good idea incase it’s too much work or doesn’t go into enough detail

Hi had anyone confirmed by attendance on this red event
AvatarJames
4:36
@Halima - what do you mean?

@Molly thank you :)
AvatarShauni

@Guest01 we expect students to attended a minimum of 1 yellow, blue and red event, in Y12, so if you haven't met this, you may receive a letter from us after Easter. If you've attended multiple other events though, don't worry too much! As long as we can see you want to be involved!

@Shauni thanks

@Alexandra No probs - glad to help! I'm sure with the right research and a good attitude (which it seems you've already got!) you'll be able to make the right choices.

how many degree choices should I have when applying through UCAS
Halima

If you read academic books and you put this on UCAS, does it impress UNIS?
AvatarShauni

@Chiquitta, you get 5 choices on UCAS

AvatarFiona

Hi @Taylor It's hard to advise on whether you should do a straight history degree or joint honours: it's really a decision you need to make for yourself. For some history courses, you may be able to take politics modules as part of your degree (for example, here at Leeds we have discovery modules). The best thing to do at this point is do your research regarding what courses you are interested in (both single and joint honours) and visit UCAS fairs to get a range of prospectuses. You can find out more about degrees and how much work joint honours involves by going to university open days and asking current students.
AvatarShauni

@Halima, if you can demonstrate what you've learned from reading them then it can be impressive to read outside the curriculum!
